@kardinal_der @Brian_Kennedy @keithedwards That hasn't been a question for dozens of years, it has been well known that a lot of prominent GOPrs have grindr accounts, in fact the spike on Grindr when they have conventions is literally hilarious. Its fine if you are gay, but self-loathing gays like them, are not helpful.

@sydneyrdawson @Brian_Kennedy @keithedwards No actually its never blackmail. You have to be asking for money or something of tangible value for it to be blackmail or extortion. Also, if you put it out on the internet, its free for the taking, so kinda moot anyways.

@AbilityBlind777 @imightbechad @lawyermatt @keithedwards @FBI No.. that's not what the law says. It says you may not extort someone, or any association for something of value. I.e. demanding money, items, etc. That doesn't exist in this case. If a profile is available to another person, that may divulge that information.

@imightbechad @lawyermatt @keithedwards @FBI Read the headline. When you threaten to release info if you don’t get what you want, it’s extortion. So dude should probably release it before and be telling the truth. My guess is he will make up a story why he can’t all of the sudden.

@lawyermatt @PhilipEvsChels @keithedwards @FBI LOL.. nothing here applies, there is no gain, so its not extortion its just public release of an online profile, with no expectation on privacy. I don't know what world you live in, but it isn't the real one.

Let’s look at the statute, 18 USC 875(d): “Whoever, with intent to extort from any person, firm, association, or corporation, any money or other thing of value, transmits in interstate or foreign commerce any communication containing any threat to injure the property or reputation of the addressee or of another or the reputation of a deceased person or any threat to accuse the addressee or any other person of a crime, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.” Editing out the immaterial terms: “Whoever, with intent to extort from any person, … any … other thing of value, transmits in interstate … commerce any communication containing any threat to injure the … reputation of the addressee … shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.” This video was transmitted over TikTok, which is a means of “interstate commerce.” The person in the video expressly direct this toward Mike Johnson, making Johnson the “addressee.” He threatens to disclose information (i.e., an alleged Grindr account) that would “injure the reputation of the addressee” (particularly among his Christian base, which frowns upon that form of sexual behavior). The threat, however, is conditioned upon Johnson performing certain acts, which is to “extort.” Because this gentleman places value in having this new member of Congress on board to fight for LGBT rights, his demand would be considered “any thing of value.” So I’ll spell it out again in the text: “Whoever (the creator), with intent to extort from any person (Speaker Johnson), … any … other thing of value (the swearing in of a new member, which is something the creator values), transmits in interstate … commerce (TikTok) any communication (this video) containing any threat to injure the … reputation of the addressee (disclosing his alleged Grindr account)… shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than two years, or both.”

@WatchDogWa @AVindman I don't think you understand what 1A is then, it means the gov cannot limit speech. Everyone else is allowed to take any legal means to address your speech though. You are free to say whatever you want, you are never free of consequences of what you say.

@NicJonWic @DB3235172852461 @MikeTroy81 Thats not even close to true, if a normal rational person said such things, then realized that they were wrong, they would have said as much, paid their price, and moved on.. He persisted.. then tried to essentially launder money from himself so he could claim he couldn't pay...

@21aar_show @mobbs_mentality If you are referring to the Israel-Palestine conflict, that is not an agreement we made, and are required to protect, it was an agreement with the UK. If 10 doesn't make sense your depth of knowledge is definitely lacking on the subject, which is why she is the expert.

Except, it is. I’ll give you the technical answer first, and the personal one second. 1. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is not a contained conflict - it’s an attack on the international order the U.S. helped build after WWII. If aggression goes unchecked in Europe, it signals to China, Iran, and North Korea that military force pays. That makes future wars more likely, including those that could directly involve U.S. troops. 2. NATO’s credibility is on the line. America’s security guarantees - what keeps allies aligned and adversaries deterred -mean less if Russia can invade, annex, and brutalize without consequence. 3. Instability in Europe drives up global energy and food prices, which hit Americans directly at the pump and in the grocery store. Ukraine is one of the world’s top grain exporters, and Russia has weaponized food supply. 4. A destabilized Europe means disrupted trade with America’s largest economic partner and more costly defense commitments in the long run. 5. Supporting Ukraine now, with money, weapons, and intelligence - not American troops - is cheaper and less risky than fighting a broader war later if Russia pushes beyond Ukraine. 6. History shows appeasement of aggressors doesn’t buy peace, it breeds escalation. Ukraine is the proving ground of whether deterrence still works. 7. Russia’s campaign is not just military - it includes the systematic deportation of Ukrainian children, widespread sexual violence, and targeting of civilians. The U.S. has long defined itself as a defender of human rights and freedom, turning away would betray that legacy. 8. The struggle of Ukrainians resonates with America’s own founding ideals: free people resisting tyranny. 9. Ukraine is also about the West versus authoritarian blocs. Russia and China are aligned in trying to rewrite the global order against democracy. Supporting Ukraine is not charity - it’s strategy in the broader contest for the 21st century. 10. If Russia “wins,” China will take lessons for Taiwan. If Ukraine stands, America’s deterrence is strengthened everywhere. On the personal side: The courage of Ukrainians reminds me why I’m proud to be an American. Americans know what it means to fight for independence, to defend family, to resist tyranny. Ukraine’s struggle is a mirror held up to our own history - the same yearning for liberty, the same courage in the face of overwhelming odds. To turn away would be to forget who we are. We may live thousands of miles apart, but the principle is the same: if might makes right, if children can be stolen, women brutalized, and cities reduced to ash without consequence, then no one’s freedom is safe. Not theirs, and not ours. Supporting Ukraine isn’t about politics or party. It’s about remembering that America has always been strongest when we stood with the oppressed against the oppressor, when we recognized that our blessings of liberty come with the burden to defend them. If Ukraine falls, the world grows darker and America smaller. But if Ukraine endures, so too does the belief that freedom is worth any sacrifice, and that America still has the courage to stand for something greater than itself.

@DeadBrokeGrind @BurntIvoryKy @MegaAlphaSeeker @Ronxyz00 You are trying to imply something that was clearly not the case. The founders expected that the Constitution would change over time, through the amendment process. So saying that it is some "enshrined" untouchable right is nonsense. 18th amendment for example.

The Uncivil Truth@TheUncivilTruth·
Yes, amendments can be updated, but the existence of amendments also proves the founders expected rights to endure across eras. Free speech wasn’t “just for quills and parchment,” and the Second wasn’t “just for muskets.” The principle is timeless: citizens must have the means to defend themselves. And no, kids can’t legally stroll into Walmart and buy an AR-15. That’s already illegal. If we’re going to debate, let’s at least argue from facts, not fear-mongering.

@Joybyte_ @frontlinekit @JulianJulzah You do realize Ukraine is absolutely destroying Russia militarily right? Like as in Russia is essentially out of armor, and with sanctions can't easily make more. Additionally their air defenses are weakening, and they have no operational AEWC anymore.

Fuck it, I'm happy to lose my entire follower base over this. Charlie Kirk literally spread 🇷🇺Russian propaganda at every turn. His aim was to convince you that millions of Ukrainians in occupied territories should be genocided, and you are telling me to be sympathetic.

@blind_shove @BeeBrahm @itmatters2me3 @Strandjunker I mean ideally you'd just have a system that actually makes sense. I don't think even liberals are advocating for complete banning, but measures like making sure nutters or criminals can't get them as easily might help, and actually having the legal teeth to do something about it

Let’s make one thing clear from the start: Charlie Kirk was the victim of a shooting in a country where he, along with other right-wing extremist influencers, have been inciting violence for years. — Kirk is neither a martyr nor a hero, he is a cause.

MAGA man threatens to kill peaceful anti-Trump protesters—flashes his police badge and gun. "When we get in a civil war, I'm coming after each and every one of you!" "I'm an officer—what are you gonna do?" he yells. "All you hippies are going to get your day, I promise you!" According to the person taking this video: "We were having a pretty chill protest event and playing fun music—not even protest music—just having a relaxed day when this guy walked up." The incident occurred at the corner of 71st St. and Memorial Dr. in Tulsa, Oklahoma. #DemsUnited
