Create. Curate. Iterate. // Thinkable Desktop Studio A modular tangible thinking space for creative work. Work on ideas without distraction, stay focused and in creative flow. // How it works To start, throw every productivity rule out the window - it destroys the creative process. Creativity and productivity exist on a spectrum and when you do one, it costs you the other. Welcome to the messy middle. Thinkable is a place where you can visualize your thoughts and ideas and then keep them in sight, top of mind, and in reach. Where you can effortlessly iterate, synthesize and collaborate with yourself, while expanding your mind, creative field of view and explore your ideas. // Why should you listen to me? I’ve done a lot of design, both physical and digital. Everything you see at thinkable I’ve crafted - ID / brand / copy / web / product / artwork / photography / film. Judge the work, it’s opinionated. I even spent a year writing a book on the topic (of Tangible Thinking). // coming soon. Sign up for the Kickstarter announcement. Link in bio.

Nobody tells you this: You can win by just embracing what most people avoid. Wake up early. Focus. Move your body. Eat real foods. Obsess over one thing. Read old books. Be present. Listen intently. Change your mind. Have difficult conversations. The recipe for a good life.

Planning my first @ProductHunt launch in <<checks notes>> a long long time 🤣 Do products that have zero AI in them still relevant? How about listing sites? Oh well, I guess we'll see!

@lush_amorelli Love this. Yes focus is narrower than FOV. You decide what part of your FOV to give attention to.

Question: and I'll carry on with the analogy, would you say focus entails a narrower FOV? Or rather, independently of the FOV, you decide momentarily to focus your perception on whatever your "focused vision" (vs peripheral vision) is capturing? And my issue with focus is I tend to do well with FOV - but I struggle with avoiding jumping between these other modes (tilt, roll...) all the time... I struggle to commit to a "shot".

This!! @vilinskyy they really need to move. It feels like they’re waiting for Config to announce. I think it’s the wrong play. The canvas will never go away but it need to be more opinionated in what is being built. And let him get closer to the real work of building. But also let you dream.
Alexander Vilinskyy@vilinskyy

I’m saying this with love, but @figma needs to start moving. I know they have “growth and revenue” but it’s not going to last. I use it, but every day it feels more limiting, not empowering. They try to ride on “creativity tool”, but it’s a losing strategy. People don’t like to pay for “creativity”, but they appreciate the “creativity” in the process. (I’ve been selling “creativity” for the past 20 years) Instead of trying to catch up with @Lovable and @Replit , they need to row in opposite direction and become a “visual language of the process”. Without this shift to their product strategy, they will keep losing to upcoming competitors, who are catching up very fast. Seemless handoff, better and faster search, more ways to organize and present design — infrastructure nobody else owns. Literally every PM I know complains how it’s impossible to find designs after some time. No, pages with emojis don’t help, thanks. Instead they’re chasing Lovable with vector paintbrushes that became out-trended within a week. Figma have to understand that their main competitor is @linear , not website building tools. Right now, everyone loses: designers, PMs, companies, the Figma team, and their investors.

In Toronto Mar 21–25. I'd like to connect with people working in neuroscience, cognitive health, and health tech while I'm in town. If you're at UHN, Baycrest, or MaRS and working on hardware or clinical research, I’d love to grab a 15-minute coffee.

I’m def biased here but i think we need better benchmarks for design ai tools And also I think designers need to know what tools can help get work done the *fastest* vs. perceived novelty

@DamiDina @skirano Design <> code canvas. Really smart on canvas AI-generated design. And they’re constantly coding. They did it all before paper / Figma.

@DamiDina I think anything that is memorable needs to be crafted and shipped. 100% agree with the two camps.

@getthinkable Even for mobile though none of these current tools help you actually *ship* i think there might be 2 camps of designers left - crafters - shippers i'm in the shipping camp and i think ai can help me craft faster. and the biz world imo is more aligned with the *shippers*

@getthinkable I follow this space very closely and also built a similar tool I would argue this is all perception based My experience with magic path ai gen is that is slow and the same output as the other tools Design <> code isn’t that linked imo but I’m curious about your workflows
