Tesla FSD v14.2.2.5 slows down to avoid a man on a bicycle who ran a red light in downtown Houston tonight, while he nearly gets plowed over by a police officer at the same time.

@gearvr None of this will ultimately matter, since FSD just works.

@JCChristopher Sadly media wouldn't care. High chance, it was really on fsd. The kid might have complained. Parent got a shock on the ramp and disengaged fsd.

I went to the exact same location of the Cybertruck accident shown in the Fox News video. This is the US-69/59 Eastex Freeway northbound HOV lane at the Y-split near the Eastex Park & Ride exit (approaching from downtown Houston toward Humble). In the Fox News video, the vehicle failed to follow the right curve, going straight into the barrier. Well, I tested it twice today with Tesla FSD engaged the entire time with zero human intervention. And unless you think I am a hologram speaking to you from another dimension now, it worked out really well. Here is the video of me taking the exact same curve twice, with Tesla FSD v14.2.2.5.

@CuriousTimL Yes, the ramp is extremely steep. Not sure the video even does it justice for how steep it is. FSD was slowing down before the turn

@JCChristopher I took a screen shot of how fast you were going at the 15mph speed warning sign both times, and you were going 48 and 45 respectfully, and FSD was already slowing down quite a bit. It took you 6 seconds to reach the curve and took the lady 4 seconds. she was going way to fast

@CuriousTimL Yes, the 15 mph exit speed limit warning is to let you know that's the speed you take on the turn, not the ramp. But yes, she was obviously going way to fast going into the turn.

@JCChristopher I would love to see in the original video of how fast she was going at the Exit: 15mph sign but i'm guessing it's close to 55 to 60mph which is way to fast for that skinny ramp with a sharp turn coming up

What happened is they panic breaking but instead the accidentally push the accelerator. Your muscle memory starts to think that you only need to push one pedal to break, especially with Tesla. So a bit of panic, they accidentally pushed the wrong pedal and then they tried to blame auto pilot for their own mistake. Because Tesla is such a huge company, they think it’s just an easy payday. But people failed to realize that these cars record literally everything

@JCChristopher The lady turned off self driving before the accident, so it's her fault

@gearvr I am sure someone will. But this video should answer everyone's questions about whether it makes since a vehicle would be accelerating while disengaged on this steep of a ramp. Or we just discovered new physics.

@JCChristopher The proposed community note on this post is so dumb. Oh it was old software that led to the accident. Who tf cares? v14 can handle it just fine

@JCChristopher Tesla likely has telemetry on thousands of FSD cars handling it perfectly. It only doesn’t work when you turn it off and drive your own ass of the bridge. User error.

@JCChristopher Thanks for doing that JC (even though you, I, and the whole Tesla community knew it was total BS). I hope she is prosecuted for child endangerment.
