@devahaz pretty solid advice. we should think of good ideas, and then just do those ideas and not the bad ideas. he's onto something

@AdamSinger @KyleLogiks @cremieuxrecueil I generally use avocado oil instead of veggie oil when I sear something or for eggs in a pan. the larger point is, it doesn't really matter which one I use. on a list of 100 things to worry about, its #100. its why the entire discourse around seed oils was (and is) so silly

@kenberman @KyleLogiks @cremieuxrecueil Any good nutritionist says eat mostly single ingredient fresh foods, so steak & vegetables etc. This is essentially my diet and I've lost 20lbs, never been healthier on biometrics. IDK why you'd add back the cheap oils at home olive oil tastes better, so that's a reason by itself

Seed oils: Are they even correlated with bad health? I assembled ALL of the available NHANES data and linked as much as possible of it to the National Death Index and found that... It's not. Seed oils aren't even correlated with problems.

@kenberman @AdamSinger @cremieuxrecueil So what is the “crap” then. Is it the processed flours, natural flavors, seed oils? Is it only bad when they’re together? Is it only bad when seed oils are heated?

@benbbaldwin they need to make it clear they are referring to *single day* prices.

Okay this is funny. You can't complain about both overcrowding and high prices! If you're worried about crowding then the logical conclusion is that prices aren't set high enough!

@AdamSinger @cremieuxrecueil this is right Adam, but that's bc you are removing crap from your diet, not bc you are removing *seed oils*. that matters bc restaurants using seed oil to fry their food are just misleading people, etc

@cremieuxrecueil I've had this debate with a lot of people and the answer I get everyone to agree to is to stop eating twinkies, cheap QSR snacks, deep fried chicken and fast food all the time if you want to be healthy (it turns out you remove most of the seed oils by doing this, don't shoot me)

@devahaz the scale is weird here. it looks like a big difference but its only between 10% for chimps vs a few % for the others (agree with kangaroo, disagree with King Cobra bc one bite and youre dead)

@kenberman I’ll def take my chances w a king cobra or a kangaroo first. But it’s less about position, more that chimps should be in that tier of “yeah not happening” animals.

A clarification for those frustrated about the peptide shifts happening and incoming. The gray, black, AND compounding sources were all on the line. The fact that compounding sources appear likely to survive the cut is significant for cost, purity and accessibility reasons.

@quahoggy Lasting legacy will be weakened alliances with our allies. We unilaterally attacked Iran without NATO or a plan, it's going poorly, And now he's trying to strongarm allies to help bc we're in over our heads. That's not a way to form equitable agreements.

@Freyy_is @UitopDesign The problem is that most people listen to music via streaming services like Spotify. So I could you my daughter an old iPod but then I have to buy tons of music to put on it. Which is crazy since I already subscribe to Spotify

Lowering LDL will extend lifespans. The trials, the genetic studies, and even the prospective cohort studies all agree that the more you lower LDL, the greater the reduction in your risk of heart disease. This is one of the clearest chronic disease prevention findings there is.
Crémieux tweet media
Crémieux@cremieuxrecueil

This is good! More people should be on statins. They are basically a wonder-drug. They have very few side effects and almost no serious ones, and they deliver huge reductions in cardiovascular risk and extension in lifespans, for $2 to $10 per month.

Verification - it's a mixed bag. The NAM was too cold and held onto the inversion for too long. Conversely, the RGEM was too warm and eroded the inversion too quickly, with the backdoor cold front retreating too fast.
Tomer Burg tweet media
Tomer Burg@burgwx

Models are generally split into 2 camps for Saturday: 🌡️ warmer: RGEM/ECMWF ❄️ colder: NAM/AIFS I would hedge my bets on the colder camp. Classic springtime cold air damming setup with a shallow low level inversion that most models don’t extend far south/west enough and are too quick to scour out.

You can be dubious of the polls (I generally am), but you still have to integrate this into your political calculations. My hunch is that if the Iran strikes get out of the news soon, this simply won't have much long term impact.
Lomez tweet media
Lomez@L0m3z

This week @christopherrufo and I ask the big questions about the Iran strikes, and whether this signals a crack-up in the coalition. One central question here, and as a skeptic, one that has required some reflection on my own part is, "Who actually is Trump's base?"
