a few people asked the same question; we made our own SCM based on how Google and Meta do it internally to scale to thousands of agents operating in parallel in our monorepo

@_xjdr I hope this is a wake up call for them… they’ve been struggling with reliability lately but this incident was insane. No point having all these dumb Copilot features if it doesn’t get the basics right. What do you use instead btw?

maybe im bitter because this bit me but the COO of going out of their way to find a huge denominator to make the impact appear small makes feels very dishonest versus a sincere apology about how this invalidates their entire promise to their customers. we had to dig into their status page about this to even realize they just casually fucked up our repo
Kyle Daigle@kdaigle

Wanted to provide more clarity about this. Yesterday, we had a regression in merge queue behavior where, in some cases, squash or rebase commits were generated from the wrong base state, making earlier changes appear reverted in branch history. 2,804 pull requests out of over 4M merged on April 23 (roughly 0.07%) were affected. We fixed the issue, we've contacted every impacted customer, and we're expanding our automated test coverage for merge queue operations. The team will be updating the status page with RCA details as well.

A lot of conservatives criticize "Ms Rachel" because she's a far left propagandist. Fair enough. But I hated her content long before she went political. These YouTubers who churn out slop for toddlers are almost always creepy and weird, and the slop is not edifying or educational for kids. Dressing up in overalls and talking like a toddler is not how you teach young children or help them grow. Don't talk down to kids or patronize them. Think about Mr. Rogers. He didn't speak to kindergartners like a kindergartner. He was the wholesome grandfatherly figure. That's the right vibe for children's content. Ms. Rachel is nothing but a slop merchant.
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@NYCMayor

This morning, Ms. Rachel and I visited District 2 Pre-K Center, where we sang and read with the wonderful students and educators. We also discussed universal childcare - and how we're making it happen for NYC!

@Tyler_A_Harper people are probably confused because you simultaneously say he’s full of shit while also burnishing his image as anti-war and claiming the Democrats are more hawkish. you shout the latter louder than the former

People’s inability to exercise basic literacy remains unparalleled, so I’ll clarify for the record: I voted for Coconut Lady. However, I did spend many months rightly pointing out that Trump—who is not actually anti-war—was politically outflanking the Dems by promising peace.

I wrote about Iran. Trump spent years campaigning against risky and expensive wars, and criticizing hawkish foreign policy positions. The public is sick of foreign conflicts, and Trump came in with a clear anti-war mandate. He’s squandering it by courting a new overseas quagmire.
The Atlantic@TheAtlantic

Donald Trump appears to be considering getting the U.S. involved in the conflict between Israel and Iran. Doing so would betray his “clear, consistent, and unmistakable” anti-war mandate, writes @Tyler_A_Harper: theatlantic.com/culture/archiv…

The stock market is crashing! Trump has ruined everything! This is the end! Or…to quote the great Dave Chapelle: “…and hear me out when I say this…you could shut the fuck up.” The stock market has simply rung out Biden’s last gasp of free money before he lost the election. We are back to where we were a year ago.

BTW. The thing where Claude can actually not just produce code, but run it for you, so that you can test out how it works, is insane.
Kyle Russell@kylebrussell

@TheStalwart it'll be smart enough to make and run code for you to be more efficient/get more reliable results

Is this the type of photo you take with a man whom you believe is a fascist? A threat to democracy? Hitler and Mussolini were fascists—would you be okay with someone taking a picture like this with either of them? If someone took a photo like this with Hitler or Mussolini, you’d think it was disgusting or that they were threatened into doing it.

@yashar I'm sort of baffled by this talking point. Trump won. He will be the President. The American people voted. So, it's sort of irrelevant how big of a risk Biden thinks he will be. He made his best case. The American people disagreed. What would you have him do now?

Biden said Trump wants to cut Medicare. Mostly False. When he was president, Trump released annual budgets that proposed cutting Medicare but he has repeatedly pledged throughout the 2024 presidential campaign that he will not cut the program. politifact.com/factchecks/202…

Static typing is better for large codebases if your development team is mediocre or weak. Dynamic typing is far superior for a strong team. If you think static typing is better, then there are huge improvements you can make in how you structure your code and how you test.
