I made a comment under this post but felt it deserved a wider audience, as Bill has a huge platform.
There are far more likely explanations than aliens for the evidence we have.
I don’t think we’re alone. I just think the likeliness of seeing “visitors” in this context is such a statistical improbability that it should be the last thing ever considered, and it would take overwhelming evidence to prove.
It’s far more likely there was an IR light source out of frame creating a lens flare, for example.
To really drive this point home, it’s FAR more likely that every single public official and witness was either incorrect or lying. It’s also FAR more likely equipment malfunctioned. It’s also FAR more likely a foreign (but human) military developed some form of exotic propulsion that seems to defy the laws of physics.
All these explanations are orders of magnitude more likely than detecting the presence of an intelligent non-human species dancing around fighter jets. It’s possible, but to entertain it as a likely explanation is just silly.

Are you familiar with the recent Vasco papers by @DrBeaVillarroel about transients that disappear in Earth's shadow, found in old photographic plates from the Palomar observatory, pre-Sputnik era, early 1950s.
These act like geosynchronous satellites in Earth's orbit, before humans ever had anything up there.

There you go, it is specifically mentioned in the paper "Aligned, Multiple-transient Events in the First Palomar Sky Survey" by Beatriz Villarroel et al., published in Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific (PASP), 2025.
This paper explicitly reports a highly significant deficit of transients within Earth's umbral shadow (∼22σ compared to theoretical hemispheric coverage at geosynchronous altitude; reduced to ∼7.6σ with realistic plate-based sky coverage). It interprets this as consistent with sunlight reflections from orbiting objects, which should vanish in the shadow cone where sunlight is blocked. The shadow test is used to argue against plate defects or other non-solar explanations.

I've reviewed public criticism of this stuff since last August and, together with this recent confirmation, I now estimate >80% chance of many >10cm artificial flat reflecting surfaces in Earth orbit pre-Sputnik.

I would offer to bet on that basis, since I think it's more likely these are some sort of storage / image artifact or analytical method issue - but don't think there's a clear way to retroactively determine what was happening, so I don't know how we'd resolve it.
