The Hunter Biden interview with Andrew Callaghan should honestly send shockwaves through Democratic Party politics. His honesty and accurate read on all the players who enabled Trump's rise is refreshing and the party needs more of that energy.

Ever notice how the more educated someone is, the less likely they are to fall for Trump’s nonsense? Harvard students just cheered as their university announced it’s suing Trump. When knowledge shows up, the con falls apart.

@MSNBC @PabloTorre did you really say that students should pay through the nose to get a college education because in the end it’s worth it. Harvard takes almost 30% of studs for other countries. Why? $$$$ American Univ should put Americans first. Bigger than Trump’s issues.

JD Vance nails the Abrego Garcia issue in one minute: "I just disagree with the idea that he hasn't been offered due process. He had a couple of immigration hearings; he had a valid deportation order... ...I think there's actually a deeper issue going on, which is that you see some radical judges at the district court level who are trying to layer so much "process" on top of the immigration system that it makes it impossible to function. We have over 20 million illegal aliens in the United States of America—are we not allowed to deport them? Because if we're not allowed to deport them, then what these district courts are saying is fundamentally, they reject the will of the American people as it was expressed in November 2024."

@BillAckman @realDonaldTrump Another question: How did we get to place where we were trading with countries imposing unfair tariffs on the USA? Who benefited to allow this?

The country is 100% behind the president on fixing a global system of tariffs that has disadvantaged the country. But, business is a confidence game and confidence depends on trust. President @realDonaldTrump has elevated the tariff issue to the most important geopolitical issue in the world, and he has gotten everyone’s attention. So far, so good. And yes, other nations have taken advantage of the U.S. by protecting their home industries at the expense of millions of our jobs and economic growth in our country. But, by placing massive and disproportionate tariffs on our friends and our enemies alike and thereby launching a global economic war against the whole world at once, we are in the process of destroying confidence in our country as a trading partner, as a place to do business, and as a market to invest capital. The president has an opportunity to call a 90-day time out, negotiate and resolve unfair asymmetric tariff deals, and induce trillions of dollars of new investment in our country. If, on the other hand, on April 9th we launch economic nuclear war on every country in the world, business investment will grind to a halt, consumers will close their wallets and pocket books, and we will severely damage our reputation with the rest of the world that will take years and potentially decades to rehabilitate. What CEO and what board of directors will be comfortable making large, long-term, economic commitments in our country in the middle of an economic nuclear war? I don’t know of one who will do so. When markets crash, new investment stops, consumers stop spending money, and businesses have no choice but to curtail investment and fire workers. And it is not just the big companies that will suffer. Small and medium size businesses and entrepreneurs will experience much greater pain. Almost no business can pass through an overnight massive increase in costs to their customers. And that’s true even if they have no debt, and, unfortunately, there is a massive amount of leverage in the system. Business is a confidence game. The president is losing the confidence of business leaders around the globe. The consequences for our country and the millions of our citizens who have supported the president — in particular low-income consumers who are already under a huge amount of economic stress — are going to be severely negative. This is not what we voted for. The President has an opportunity on Monday to call a time out and have the time to execute on fixing an unfair tariff system. Alternatively, we are heading for a self-induced, economic nuclear winter, and we should start hunkering down. May cooler heads prevail.

Humane Healthcare for All@LighthouseDPC·
@SurgeryCenterOK would disagree with you. I disagree with you. I got a patient a Ventral Hernia Repair for $2,500 cash and he drove 3 hours each way to get it. The local hospital wanted $9,000. The way you are practicing is dying. People are smart and expect better. Transparent Pricing makes sense. It’s a law that’s going to be enforced. The way you overcharge is the reason Health Insurance is so expensive in the first place. Aren’t you angry when you buy something then find the same thing for half price somewhere else? Of course you are. That’s how our patients feel. Healthcare is in collapse. It can’t be sustained. Adapt or die.

Had pt today who had surgery, doing well happy with results and was placed in a brace. Spouse insisted I refund them part of their share of cost of brace cuz they found “similar one” on Amazon. I was taken back esp after been worn a few weeks and now comes up,were insistent. This is kinda stuff that begins to burn u out after 20yrs. Pay 2k for ins,5k deductibles but the surgeon doing the surgery and supplying a brace at very reasonable cost gets shaken down. I gave them what they wanted,u know if I don’t they will: Leave a bad review or in TX file a complaint with Medical Board and then I’ll spend thousands and months defending myself since TMB says must investigate every claim. This is the stuff wearing down docs. #MedTwitter #orthotwitter #orthox

Who knows who contributes to the Competitive Enterprise Institute who defend PBM as 'free Market'? As you can see on their tax forms, they have contributors who give $2.8 million, $1.6 million, and 9 other contributors in the six figures (there are 2 pages of unidentified contributors) cei.org/wp-content/upl… 4/5 🧵

I know about PCMA, the lobby group for PBM, but I did not know about The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI), who are also defending PBM as 'free market' so I did some looking. They are a non profit who has lobbied with $2million over the last several years and collects $10 million in revenue each year, from what I could find 100% is from contributors. Who contributes? 3/5🧵..... cei.org/wp-content/upl…

It's tough for me to see PCMA, CEI and Sen Toomey calling PBM 'market based', when they help themselves to medicaid money, through something called the 'spread', collect kickbacks (also non transparent) which creates a monospony ... a series of monopoies among pharmaceutical products, and cause the shutdown of independent pharmacies. Last time I checked in the Bible of free market capitalism, monopolies, kickbacks and anticompetitive behavior were not Included 2/5 🧵 Here is article in #BucksCounty Courier Times where pic is from phillyburbs.com/story/opinion/…

@DutchRojas Not sure about this explanation. They can only profit about 20% of premiums and thus cannot deny more claims than 20%. If the amount spent on premiums goes up, their 20% profit goes up.

I appreciate your medical expertise and insights! Let me share something crucial from 25 years in healthcare finance. Most physicians I've worked with haven't been exposed to the coverage side of healthcare - and that knowledge could really strengthen private practices and physician-owned hospitals. Quick breakdown on how coverage works: Yes, denials DO generate revenues. Here's why: • Carriers must spend 80-85% on patient care (except self-funded plans) • Each denied claim helps them hit these ratios and generate revenues. • PBMs aren't bound by these rules, so drug denials = revenues. Different rules for different plans: - Individual/small group: 80% to care - Large group/Medicare Advantage: 85% to care - Self-funded employer plans: Different system entirely Self-funded plans are interesting - the TPAs generate fees by processing claims, not denying them. Understanding this side of healthcare isn't just about business - it's about being better equipped to serve patients and run sustainable practices.

Their profits are set in stone by the affordable care act. They actually make more money if they provide more health care. They are just trying to buffer year-to-year variability. And in fact many things that require prior authorization are of low value.

The first order of business. Repeal all laws that encourage and directly result in the consolidation and vertical integration of healthcare. Repeal of the moratorium on physician-owned hospitals to increase supply of hospitals and competition. It’s time for physicians to take action. Call, email, and drive the legislative agenda. The results: Patient satisfaction, Physician autonomy, Lower insurance premiums, Transparent prices, Removal of preauthorizations, And Higher-quality outcomes…
