@Arkypatriot @SignalSquid @JesseMock4 It's the arriving and leaving that is difficult. My dad worked on a NS rig in the 60's when helicopters were new. They were fine in good weather, but he did not enjoy the boat rides from aberdeen.

@Arkypatriot I was on an LSD for 2 deployments and we never had marines sliding down the halls, but the guys on an LST (all gone now) probably did. We did have green water coming over the bow, that was fun.

I love it when I post something that gets totally misunderstood. "Imagine being an older moviegoer and seeing Alec Guinness as Obi-Wan Kenobi. What the hell was this titan of stage and screen doing in a “B-movie” sci‑fi flick?" You see? It's written from the perspective of the older audience, probably taking their kids to see this stupid space thing. Spot that? I did it again.

Once, I was flying a Navy support mission all around the Mediterranean. We were at Naples, Italy, offloaded our cargo and passengers, sucked down a cappuccino, and preflighted to fly back to Rota, Spain. The Air Force was all over us about hitting our schedule to a “T.” They monitored all departures.
We filed our flight plan, fired up all 4 engines, and were ready to blast off. We had one old civilian Italian dude driving the ground equipment away and pulling our chocks.
He. Took. For. Fucking. Ever.
Finally, I’d had it. I goosed the engines a little to let him know we were still there. Then, I let the huge aircraft creep a little toward him and his tug. If I’d only had an ooga horn to put him on blast.
Maybe it was the cappuccino, maybe I’m just an asshole. But I had fun. 😎
