Models I’d be most excited to see: * Llama 3.2 8b-level model with sub-100ms latency (OpenRouter: Groq’s latency is 390ms) * Better, faster models for <32GB local RAM * Sonnet 3.5, but cheaper & better multilingual * The obvious: new frontier models, reliability across the board

@MarshallLocke Honestly the most surprising part is how his influence totally collapsed after he stepped down as leader shortly thereafter. Big contrast with Pelosi.

Correct. Mitch McConnell's greatest, most consequential blunder was in not leading Senate Republicans to convict Trump and banish him to his golf properties, never to hold public office again. (QUOTE: Kevin D. Williamson)

No recent political decision looks worse than the Senate’s failure to convict and disqualify Trump after J6. Even from the perspective of the right, Biden (or Harris) would likely have lost to DeSantis or Haley or whoever because of the cumulative inflation during Biden’s term.

This has to be a non-starter. I'm not Mr. Antitrust and can defend a number of things that have happened in the industry that a lot of people hate, but going from 3 to 2 legacy carriers is an obvious massive fare increase. Terrible for consumers.

The CEO of United Airlines is privately pitching some kind of merger with American Airlines, including to members of the Trump administration, sources tell @sidyoutwit, @allyversprille and @srimtaylor: bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

@HipernovaStar @MarkHettingGuy @asherbphotos I doubt they will want to fly until they are confident they understand the issue and it doesn't exist on a flight stage. This is only the third flight and they are iterating a lot. Many unknowns about the vehicle.

@MarkHettingGuy @asherbphotos It's not the first time they suffer a GS2 failure and it wasn't a big problem last time. To be clear, this is not the stage that will be used for their upcoming flight. This is probably the 6th manufactured stage.

It appears Blue Origin has had a testing failure with a GS2 tank in the 2Cat test facility on their campus at Cape Canaveral. Given the noticeable roof damage and overall damage to the facility, it’s very likely this was unintentional. It will be interesting to see if we hear more details from them on this. 📸 - @LaunchHeavenX

> "Unlike incremental updates, GPT-5.5 (codenamed Spud) is rumored to be a completely new pre-trained base, built on nearly two years of focused research." How can they be this bad at versioning
Pankaj Kumar@pankajkumar_dev

GPT-5.5: The “Spud” Leaks & The New Frontier of Omnimodal AI - A New Foundation: Unlike incremental updates, GPT-5.5 (codenamed “Spud”) is rumored to be a completely new pre-trained base, built on nearly two years of focused research. - Big Model Smell: OpenAI’s Greg Brockman points to a major qualitative shift models becoming less rigid and more intuitive, adapting to user intent without over-explanation. - Omnimodal & Agentic: Designed as a natively omnimodal system, GPT-5.5 is expected to function as a highly autonomous agent rather than a traditional chatbot. - Extreme Time Horizons: A key goal is extending long form reasoning handling complex, open-ended tasks over significantly longer timeframes. - Unlocking New Abilities: Early signals suggest it can solve tasks that previously required heavy prompting or weren't feasible for LLMs at all. - The Arena Tease: Rumored first-pass image generations are already surfacing in AI arenas, hinting at early testing or a near-term reveal. - The Pricing War: While competitors like Claude Mythos are rumored at $100 per 1M tokens, OpenAI may price GPT-5.5 more aggressively to drive adoption. - Imminent Rollout: Following recent hints from leadership, “Spud” could arrive soon as a key step toward OpenAI’s broader AGI push. (Unverified leaks; treat performance claims, naming, and timelines with caution.)

@ModeledBehavior Dumb but serious question. Are the Warrenites populist? They had a lot of populist style rhetoric but the only people who seemed interested all had terminal masters degrees.

@conorsen The Iraq War, the GFC, & then twin Sanders-Trump insurgencies in 2016 convinced both party establishments that their politics had been discredited. The failure of the first Trump Admin & Biden Admin hasn’t yet convinced both party’s establishments that populism is a dead end.

I once dated a guy whose parents were in this category, and the most interesting thing was that it seemed to be a general issue with information uptake/comprehension. I once watched the news with them and after the segment ended one of them proceeded to recount the main story with a majority of the facts wrong. it was something like "a van drove through a crowd on Monday injuring 2 and the driver was arrested" and he was saying things like "a van drove through a crowd last night and killed a guy and they don't know who did it." it was pretty surreal.

@arnon86 @aviationbrk I can't imagine chatgpt would reference another accident and assure the public accidents are common if you asked it. Actually I just asked 5.4 thinking and it refused to say it was minor or common. Said that would be "dismissive, create legal risk, and backfire badly"

Love the new @united CRJ-450, with a new dual cabin layout. Gone are the days of the old economy configuration called the CRJ-200. This will allow customers in small regional markets to have a premium cabin experience all the way from departure to final destination.

My controversial opinion is a main cause of declining birth rates is the social norm that parents must suffer like prisoners with an 18 year hard labor sentence or else be viewed by society as guilty of neglect and child abuse. Your grandparents didn't live like this.
Laura Hudson 🇨🇦@latterdaylaura

My super strong parenting opinion is that while the kids are awake, you come last. No spending all of Saturday golfing. That’s family time. 6 am tee time only, maybe. Wanna go to the gym? Go after the kids go to bed, or wake up at 5. In a few short years, they’ll be out of the house and you’ll have all the time in the world for your own stuff. It’s okay to come last for a while.
