STAR TREK: The great tragedy of Discovery is knowing that this single character could've carried the entire show through several seasons at least.
If he were an "evil" Picard but extraordinarily sly about it, where the audience knew he was a malevolent actor but the crew being wholly unawares.
And that going on for years as we watch his schemes unfold and see that he's both ruthlessly competent but fiercely devoted to humanity. A kind of In the Pale Moonlight as a series long arc.
It'd be difficult to pull off and it's clear none of the Discovery writers had the chops... but I'm telling you a seed was there.

I do not recognize the church I was confirmed in, married in and my children were baptized in. Perhaps the seeds of its own 5th column were always present, ready to activate, or perhaps it was a more concerted infiltration and betrayal. I don’t yet know, but I recognize and call out the illegitimacy of what has and continues to happen.

Ouch, but overall Fr Altman has made valid points. Our Church didn’t stand up during Covid, failed in not supporting Carrie, and these two Bishops sidelined themselves on critical issues of religious freedom.
From the outside, it looks like they want to be liked, to remain part of the matrix of the popular.
We ache for leadership, but since the priest scandal our Church abdicated any moral authority, capitulating on issues like Carrie’s, among others. What if the Church would stand up! It would be an awesome sight for many .

I've been discussing the concept of radical obedience with my TLM friends—the merits of trying to observe the entire Cotillion regarding our shepherds. Not just making sure to use full titles and ceremony though, also focusing on complete faithful obedience in mind and action.
Don't you think that might make for easy skimming of the scum when it comes to those who try to infiltrate more Classical Catholic communities, Father? If the second someone drag queening as "traditional" spoke down about a bishop, even one who clearly needs prayers, they got saloon-doored outta the church?
