FWIW I think Trump pulls the US out of NATO by the end of this year. Their response to the war in Iran is a stain on European history.

For a number of years, more than 20 years ago, I worked for a Pakistani owned business and lived in a Muslim dominated area of Manchester. I understand why Nick feels this way, and those railing against it in the name of diversity are ignoring that Islam is aggressively intolerant of other religions. I have many years of personal experience with both immigrant and British born Pakistanis. There was no real difference. Islam is the one true faith and all others are "kafir". It's a far more exclusive religion than others, there is no interest in diversity of faith. You are Muslim, or you are "kafir". This was highlighted to me on the day of 9/11. It was early in the morning, around 9am, and cheers started echoing down the corridors. Word started to spread and they were all grinning and clapping each other on the backs. These were men and women born and raised here for the most part. The owner wheeled in a big CRT TV and 30-40 of them gathered around BBC news laughing and cheering like Pakistan were in the cricket world cup final. It is not hard to see why large public prayers by followers of a religion perceived as hostile to your very existence can feel less like worship and more like an assertion of dominance. I'm sure there are many good, tolerant Muslim people in this country who mix Western ideals with the muslim faith. People that consider themselves British among all else. But I learned that day that there are less than you think.
Nick Timothy MP@NJ_Timothy

Too many are too polite to say this. But mass ritual prayer in public places is an act of domination. The adhan - which declares there is no god but allah and Muhammad is his messenger - is, when called in a public place, a declaration of domination. Perform these rituals in mosques if you wish. But they are not welcome in our public places and shared institutions. And given their explicit repudiation of Christianity they certainly do not belong in our churches and cathedrals. I am not suggesting everybody at Trafalgar Square last night is an Islamist. But the domination of public places is straight from the Islamist playbook. Trafalgar Square belongs to all of us. It is a national memorial to our independence and our salvation. Last night was not like a televised football match or a St Patrick’s Day celebration. It was an act of domination and therefore division. It shouldn’t happen again.

*sigh* One day people will learn how Trump works and stop freaking out when he does the "Big ask so I can look good when I come back and say we got it done for a tiny fraction" game he's been playing since his first real estate investment but that day is apparently not today

@BarakRavid US must leave propaganda war against Iran and instead start to have a strategic partnership! Iran is huge and not an easy course. Trump and Netanyahu can’t win this war based on announced targets, accept the reality and make a peace.

🚨U.S. to allow Iran to get ~14 billion dollars (!!!) in oil revenue 🚨This is a huge financial concession to Iran by the U.S. 🚨It is the first time U.S. is buying Iranian oil since 1996 🚨It's all happening in the middle of a war against...Iran

Iran is the head of the snake for global terrorism, and through President Trump’s Operation Epic Fury, we are winning this critical fight at an even faster pace than anticipated. In response to Iran’s terrorist attacks against global energy infrastructure, the Trump Administration will continue to deploy America’s economic and military might to maximize the flow of energy to the world, strengthen global supply, and seek to ensure market stability. Today, the Department of the Treasury is issuing a narrowly tailored, short-term authorization permitting the sale of Iranian oil currently stranded at sea. At present, sanctioned Iranian oil is being hoarded by China on the cheap. By temporarily unlocking this existing supply for the world, the United States will quickly bring approximately 140 million barrels of oil to global markets, expanding the amount of worldwide energy and helping to relieve the temporary pressures on supply caused by Iran. In essence, we will be using the Iranian barrels against Tehran to keep the price down as we continue Operation Epic Fury. This temporary, short-term authorization is strictly limited to oil that is already in transit and does not allow new purchases or production. Further, Iran will have difficulty accessing any revenue generated and the United States will continue to maintain maximum pressure on Iran and its ability to access the international financial system. So far, the Trump Administration has been working to bring around 440 million additional barrels of oil to the global market, undercutting Iran’s ability to leverage its disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump’s pro-energy agenda has driven U.S. oil and gas production to record levels, strengthening energy security and lowering fuel costs. Any short-term disruption now will ultimately translate into longer-term economic gains for Americans – because there is no prosperity without security.

@SecScottBessent You guys need to clarify the offramp and exit plan and get out of there asap so the rest of the world can work on re-opening the strait. Any delay causes further damage. Unbelievable that this admin thought any of this was a good idea.

@Kit69794 @ParadoxPete99 @AlboMP If you equate 1) condemning a politician for failing to give a single shit about a massacre to 2) an attempted violent assault of a politician over a nonexistent genocide, yes very good sense

Australia's diversity is our strength. And I’m proud our team is as diverse as the communities we represent. Different backgrounds, different perspectives, all making us a better government. On the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, we’re committed to making sure every Australian feels safe and respected. No matter what language you speak, or what faith you practice.

Shapiro is the Democrats best hope. Newsom has so much baggage that it could fill a cargo plane. The problem? The hard left won't vote for Shapiro because he's a Jew. So much for equity and inclusion. 🤷‍♂️

John Fetterman's had a 108 pt drop in his net approval with PA Dems since 2023. His net rating is -40 pt net approval with them. His net popularity with his own party is worse than all senators who lost a primary this century. There's no historical analog to his unpopularity.

@NewsHour @IAmAmnaNawaz Last year in NYC, there were nearly 2X as many anti-gay hate crimes as there were anti-Muslim hate crimes. But certainly, the rhetoric is ugly and troubling. Oh, and of course there were 10X as many anti-Jewish hate crimes, dwarfing all other hate crimes. Perspective needed.

EXCLUSIVE: While rhetoric disparaging Islam is not new, “there's an unabashed nature to it,” right now, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said in an interview airing Friday. “It is being echoed from the highest offices in this country,” he tells @IAmAmnaNawaz. “They do so without any sense of shame.” Watch more from the interview on Friday's PBS News Hour.

@AngryLevantine It would've been a bleak age. It's unbelievable, how much has changed and what's obviously ahead of us. I'm so hopeful that this nightmare will soon come to an end. I remember days when I felt hopeless about the prospect of having a free country, it's no longer a dream.

Fun fact: during jury selection, lawyers actually weed out weak minds that are easily distracted by speculation. You chose to ignore the evidence (heavily Jewish neighborhood, kid visibly Jewish) in favor of spinning a what-if fantasy. Cunts like you belong nowhere near juries, children, or society. <3

@SonicCruise @JewishWarrior13 No, I'm not a moron. I just have noticed that sometimes people just do mean things. I think we tend to assume if someone is mean to a person who is visibly Jewish it is ipso facto, etc.

Gen Z men are more likely to believe that a wife should obey her husband than other generations. A global poll of 23,000 people found that 31% of Gen Z men agreed that a wife should always obey her husband. 33% also felt a husband should have the final word on important household decisions. These were higher proportions than older generations.
