The middle class in Nigeria will have to brace up for challenging times. In short, CBN supports Nigeria Tax Act 2025 with strong emphasis on SME formalization and tax compliance. On paper, it is okay but govt transparency and accountability are the key issues here.... [1/3]

French President Emmanuel Macron says: "Respect the sovereignty of people." But the same France that disrespected the sovereignty of #Côte d'Ivoire, #Senegal, #Gabon, #Chad, and #Niger people? 🤡🤡

One thing I like the UK is that nobody sends your expensive car 😂😂 Maya Jama and her boyfriend Ruben Dias were handed a £60 parking fine as they headed to the gym in his £200,000 Lamborghini on Tuesday😬 The couple reunited for lunch after the Love Island presenter grabbed a coffee in Cheshire, before driving off with the ticket still attached to the windscreen. 😂

Now that DR Congo has qualified for the world cup, I do hope the orange man will allow this super fan into the country.

They are not scared o, they are only conscious of doing it now due to impact on general election that is less than a year from now. If you people allow that incompetent man in Aso Rock get his re-election desire, he will not only collect tax but Nigerians will find God in new ways.

The Nigerian Independent National Electoral Commission (@inecnigeria) has withdrawn recognition of the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (@ADCNig) and suspended all official engagement with the party pending ongoing litigation. This action has effectively frozen Nigeria's main opposition political party at a critical moment as it prepares to compete in the upcoming Nigerian presidential election, raising serious concerns about the opposition's ability to organize and participate fully in the democratic process. At a time when Nigerians expect free, fair, and credible elections, any development that disrupts political participation, creates institutional uncertainty, or undermines the perceived independence of electoral bodies must be addressed with urgency and transparency. #Nigeria is not only Africa’s largest democracy, but also a critical strategic partner of the United States in regional security, economic stability, and counterterrorism. The integrity of Nigeria’s electoral process is therefore of direct importance to U.S. interests and global stability. Accordingly, the firm will be presenting its concerns to members of the United States Congress and the @realDonaldTrump Administration to ensure that the importance of free, fair, and transparent democratic processes in Nigeria remains firmly on the international agenda. We call on H.E. Bola Ahmed Tinubu (@officialABAT) to ensure that the conduct and outcome of the upcoming elections are beyond reproach, free from doubt, and fully reflective of the will of the Nigerian people. @HouseForeignGOP @HouseForeign @SFRCdems @SecRubio @StateDept @AsstSecStateAF @DeptofWar @HASCRepublicans @HASCDemocrats @atiku @NGRPresident @HouseNGR @NGRSenate @CNNAfrica @BBCAfrica @Reuters @AFP @ForeignPolicy

This banking license is good for the ecosystem. Banks that will be significantly impacted with retail customers switching away are UBA, Zenith, Sterling and First Bank
OluGB 🦋@TechProd_Arch

🇳🇬 Today, @theflutterwave announces a Nigerian banking license. It is a defining step in our 10-year journey to build the financial infrastructure powering Africa’s future. A decade ago, we started with a simple belief: better infrastructure changes everything. Payments failed too often, settlement was slow, and expanding meant rebuilding from scratch. So we focused on connecting what was fragmented. With the acquisition of @mono_hq earlier this year, we deepened that connectivity. Now we are going further by building a unified platform where businesses can open accounts, accept and send payments, manage payouts, run payroll, and operate across currencies in one place, with access to lending and working capital powered by real transaction data. Businesses can now run their entire financial operations seamlessly, while developers can build new financial products directly on our infrastructure at scale. We can now build, innovate and solve customer problems faster than before because we now control the value chain of payments in Nigeria. Our destiny is now in our hands. We are reimagining banking for Africa’s future. Faster. Smarter. Built for scale. 🚀🦋 Learn more: flutterwave.com/us/blog/owning… flutterwave.com/ng/bank

It's a culture thing, an average Nigerian is non challant until it's too late, becomes reactionary and then try to make it everybody's problem. Won't be surprised if the email and DM recipients were contract or even unpaid staff members, so they have zero incentives to be proactive and act with important issues until it becomes urgent, It's visible in our daily work, public offices, governance, courts etc Like I typically say, when the "owners" of the internet have Nigeria's time, I do hope it will not be too late.

The nonchalance in Nigeria tech companies needs to be addressed. You report a severe issue and they'll throw a deaf ear towards it. They rather arrest you than mitigate the risk when reported, cos this would have clearly be avoided. And am sure they won't still learn from this
