Think Carnaval is one of those things you can only really flow with properly when you’re drunk, you would have to be a bit of a monster to rawdog it as a ‘Sensitive Young Man’, especially as a Hajnali if your hips are always a little stiff around rhythmic big African music beats. Go into a crowd too and you’re in a sort of a big sweaty mess of meat… fine if that’s what you like but something a certain type of person will have to be in the mood for I think. Look it can be fun but yeah a lot of people cruising around. Some of them when they are off their head are even cruising for their friends; “hey can my friend kiss you?”, that kind of ‘vibe’. Depends what you are into!

Went to a big Brazilian Carnaval block party. Famously during Carnaval Brazilians will dress up to gather and drink, dance and ‘make out’ - basically will spend days on end propositioning each other. Have to say Carnaval so far has been one the gayest experiences in my life in the sense at times it feels like an open air gay club. My inference is Brazil has more gays per capita than almost any other countries, don’t know if that’s a cultural or genetic thing or a bit of both. When you to Carnaval, at least one of the public events, seems like the ratio is close to 60-40 Men to Women. Sometimes a real sausage fest. One of the big points of the event too is people take it as an opportunity ‘to lose their inhibitions’ and just cruise around and ‘make out’ (‘Pegação’) with people And then really a lot of the gay Brazilians seem to take that opportunity to heart. What would happen was you were in the crowd or standing at the edge of the crowd and then occasionally one of them would approach you: “Do you speak Portuguese?” then “Wow where are you from?” then “Are you straight?” “Hey yeah sorry man, thanks for asking though, don’t want to waste your time, enjoy the rest of your day” “No problem; enjoy Carnaval” Kept happening. Would be less time each time before I told them “I’m not gay” once I began to clock what was happening. Presumably this is what it feels like to be a woman getting approached in bar. Got to be on the lookout too not to get your arse squeezed. Guess something like this you have to take as a compliment but was making me feel self-conscious. Lot of the costumes people dress up too in they’re very gay-coded, everybody is covered in glitter, lot of shirtless men around… it’s a very very gay vibe. You could get away with calling it ‘camp’ maybe with some plausible deniability but if you were being honest yeah it’s pretty gay By the way some women would approach too (just want to make that clear!!!) but the ratio in the end ended up being more men than women. Have to shrug and say “that’s Brazil for you”

Technological innovation can be a form of participation in the divine act of creation. It carries an ethical and spiritual weight, for every design choice expresses a vision of humanity. The Church therefore calls all builders of #AI to cultivate moral discernment as a fundamental part of their work—to develop systems that reflect justice, solidarity, and a genuine reverence for life.

Only in SF kinda story. Saw a beautiful girl at this cafe I was working from, well dressed, waiting for someone for over 25 mins & visibly distressed. Spoke to her, she was on a blind date and guy didn't show up (stupid guy). We spoke more. Told her what @mavehealth does, turns out she struggles with her mental health, overthinking and anxious thoughts. She immediately signed up for the highest tier. Day is made. ✌️

but maybe it’s not desperation. maybe they just actually like me. i’m not sure. i can’t control how my body feels about it, though — i tend to like a more gradual approach, to build tension, rather than immediate affection.

something similar has been the case for me. i always seem to be into more distant people — and if people are too into me, it feels too deferential and it makes me want to pull back. i think i perceive one as strength and one as desperate, and i only find strength attractive.

For a long time in my life I had this weird brainworm where I did not allow myself to get close or intimate with people who liked me -too much- and I don't really understand why, I wondered why I never felt loved, was always going after people I thought would come to love me

@duborges @marcelofcandid0 @levelsio I currently get paid in USD but I have no idea how to keep this safe in accounts outside Brazil + how to use a small part of it to actually pay for stuff (rent, groceries etc) inside the country. Can you show me the ways?

🇧🇷 The Brazilian Real currency should be on crypto exchanges because it's the biggest shitcoin ever Imagine losing 19% of your money every year! Or 32% in the last 5 years! Most Brazilians I talk to have 1) no idea about investing outside Brazil, 2) no idea about investing in the first place When they do have they only talk about Brazilian investment products offered by their bank, or they jubilate about the great Brazilian bonds that pay with 15%/year return That 15%/year return makes no sense though if you lose 19%/year to the BRL perpetually crashing against the USD (ever since it existed it went down) For example: US$1,000 invested by a Brazilian in Brazilian bond a year ago would be: US$1,150 (+15%) after 1 year IF the currency would remain stable but it didn't, it dropped -19.07%, meaning you actually now have US$930 (-7%) A terrible investment Every Brazilian I meet I try make them open a brokerage account like IBKR (not affiliated) to just get them to buy into investments outside Brazil Brazilians are very patriotic so it's not easy to convince them about stuff OUTSIDE of Brazil That patriotism makes no sense though when Brazil's currency has been turned into a shitcoin by its corrupt governments who use it to rob from the people for decades

One reason I and most of @bismarckanlys publish longform writing is to show potential clients that our analysis is actually good. I didn't expect, but should've, that this reputation also makes inside sources at the institutions we investigate more willing to share info with us.
