Thoughts on Investing suggestions and working the compound interest magic. Earlier you start investing the better. Age is your best friend in compounding. If you have a lump sum to invest for a longer period of time it’s better than a SIP.

Maternal Grandfather was Postmaster General of West Bengal, one uncle was Congress Pradesh President, another uncle was Gurudas Dasgupta, husband is former Minister of West Bengal, grew up on a massive family farm in Digberia, did PG from King's college London. Bhikhari indeed :)

Engineering Drawing was one of the 3 papers my father couldn't clear in his first year of B.E. (there were 21 papers). Engineering Drawing (ED) is widely considered a tough paper because it tests a specific cognitive skill often not developed in high school: spatial visualization. Instead of memorizing formulas or writing essays, you must mentally visualize a 3D object and translate it accurately onto a 2D sheet of paper. You must be able to "see" hidden lines, rotated angles, and complex intersections in your mind before you draw them. It is a universal language. You must follow very specific rules regarding lineweights, scale, dimensioning, and projections (like orthographic or isometric). A single misplaced line or incorrect scale can fail the entire drawing. Unlike theoretical subjects where you can write a few sentences to get partial credit, drawing requires exact geometry. If the fundamental projection or angle is wrong, the entire structure falls apart. Learning ED requires hands-on repetition using drafting tools (T-squares, compasses, protractors). Just looking at a solved problem in a textbook is rarely enough to master it. #engineering #exams

Breach Candy Club in Mumbai is the symbol of how the worst form of elitism works. Until 1947 - Indians were banned in most clubs. After 1947 most clubs permitted Indians. But Breach Candy Club continued the ban till 1960. Even today management power is largely not with Indians

I have nothing against private clubs. As long as they are built by private people on private land with private funds. As far as I know, Delhi Gymkhana Club is only private when it comes to memberships.

Very interesting history about Air Marshal Lakhmir Singh and the role of Signals officers. There’s a (possibly apocryphal?) story on these radar stations from that period. As you have posted earlier, Wg. Cdr. (later Air Marshal) Minoo Jehangir Dotiwalla commanded 15 squadron. When the radar stations were being tested, under varying weather and aircraft altitudes, only one station, Dotiwalla’s, ‘caught’ all the aircraft. This was puzzling, as at least the some low-flying aircraft would be missed, and Dotiwalla was asked to explain the superlative performance of his unit. He said that he sat outside and counted the aircraft and they went by, listening and watching, sipping his gin and tonic. Then cross-checked with the radar, and added the missing numbers.
Anchit Gupta@AnchitGupta9

From Dhatigara to Dotiwalla, from Spitfires to Gnats, from one Parsi CO to another. No. 15 Squadron, the Flying Lancers, is a unit that somehow managed to live two lives. Raised first on 15 Aug 1951 at Halwara, 15 Squadron was a child of Plan Shikar, the quiet expansion blueprint that prepared the Indian Air Force for an imminent war with Pakistan. To bring four new squadrons alive at once, the IAF raided its own training resources. No. 15 Squadron was formed on Spitfires pulled out of the conversion pool at Ambala, where young fighter pilots were learning their trade. At the head of this new unit stood its first commanding officer, Sqn Ldr Edul Jahangir Dhatigara. Fate, however, intervened early. On 26 January 1953, barely a year and a half after its birth, No. 15 Squadron was number plated. Its personnel and aircraft were used to bring No. 1 Squadron back to life after six years in hibernation. At Partition, the IAF's original No. 1 Squadron had gone to the PAF. In a neat historical twist, the PAF chose not to use the "1 Squadron" title, leaving the IAF free to reclaim its oldest and most symbolic squadron number. For 15 Squadron, that choice came at a cost. It vanished from the order of battle on 26 January 1953 and stayed that way for more than a decade. The Flying Lancers finally returned on 16 Nov 1964, once again at Ambala, resurrected on the Gnat. Just days later, on 28 Nov 1964, Wg Cdr Minoo Jehangir Dotiwalla took over command as the unit's second CO. From Dhatigara to Dotiwalla, from one Parsi to another, 15 Squadron's second life began with a very distinctive thread of continuity. Since its rebirth in 1964, 15 Squadron has kept an unbroken front line vigil, serving with distinction across conflicts including Balakot and Op Sindoor. The Flying Lancers have moved home from Ambala to Bareilly, Bagdogra, Pune, Bhuj, Nal and now Sirsa, and have steadily upgraded their mounts from the Gnat to the MiG-21 and today the Su-30. @IAF_MCC #IAFHistory

Devamritasya Putra - देवामृतस्य पुत्र: 🇮🇳
Picture this sequence, one event after another… • A young, completely unqualified guy with zero manufacturing experience suddenly gets an industrial licence to build 50,000 “people’s cars” a year. • While every big established auto company is stuck in endless red tape, his project sails through with personal help straight from the PMO. • Hundreds of acres of prime farmland near Delhi are forcibly seized from farmers at throwaway prices. Even Air Force safety restrictions on the site are magically cleared. • Then the Emergency is declared in 1975. • Businessmen are arrested under harsh security laws and kept in jail until they “invest” by buying shares in his company. • Car dealers are threatened with their shops being bulldozed unless they cough up money for shares. • A foreign national close to the family is quietly made director in the side companies, bypassing all foreign exchange rules. • The firm barely produces a handful of cars in years. Every prototype fails critical road and safety tests spectacularly. • After the ruling family loses power, an official judicial inquiry rips it apart: total abuse of state machinery, extortion and cronyism ordered from the very top. • The young promoter dies in a plane crash soon after. • The same family returns to power. • The bankrupt company is nationalised with taxpayer money. • It is later revived in partnership with a Japanese giant and becomes India’s biggest car success story. This wasn’t business. This was the state itself being run as a private extortion racket under dictatorship powers. x.com/being_humor/st…

A tourist couple visiting Kodagu has sparked outrage after they were allegedly caught throwing plastic bottles by the roadside and later arguing with a local resident who objected to the act. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media. According to local residents, the couple was travelling in a car bearing registration number TG 07 AM 9907, registered in Telangana, after returning from a trip in the hill district. The controversy began when the couple allegedly threw two plastic bottles onto the roadside. A local resident who witnessed the incident reportedly approached them politely and requested that they avoid littering and dispose of the waste in a dustbin. However, instead of accepting the request, the couple allegedly became aggressive and questioned the resident, asking, “Don’t you know how to speak to women?” This led to a verbal altercation between the two parties. The argument reportedly continued for several minutes before bystanders intervened and brought the situation under control. The local resident recorded the incident on video and later shared it on social media, where it quickly gained widespread attention and criticism. Many social media users condemned the tourists’ behaviour and stressed the importance of environmental awareness and responsible tourism, especially in ecologically sensitive destinations like Kodagu. Local residents have also expressed displeasure over the incident and urged visitors to respect the cleanliness, environment, and culture of the region.

Illegal Bangladeshis had created utter filth and chaos near Mumbai's Bandra East station. These jehadis were using railway tracks like their front yard. What Western Railway did is commendable but it took them 9 years to kick out these illegal pests. Learn from how Suvendu Adhikari is cleaning up Bengal. The police and municipal authorities act so fast that there is no time for judicial activism. Just gather your troops and storm the place. If the lawyers manage to get a stay order from a judge, don't acknowledge it. The lawyers should not be allowed to get close to the senior officers and cops who should also switch off their mobile phones. When this becomes the norm, no judge will sign a stay order. It is simply embarrassing for a judge to stay a demolition and then see his order has no value.
