ASSOCIATION OF CONCERNED NIGERIANS CONDEMNS FALSE BRIBERY ALLEGATION AGAINST DEFENCE MINISTER BELLO MATAWALLE AND DEMANDS IMMEDIATE RETRACTION The Association of Concerned Nigerians strongly condemns, in the strongest possible terms, the reckless and unfounded allegation circulating in sections of the media accusing Bello Matawalle, Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Defence, of attempting to bribe a United States official. This claim, reportedly attributed to Rep. Daniels, is not only disturbing but dangerously irresponsible. Allegations of this magnitude are not matters for careless public statements or media sensationalism. They are serious claims that demand credible, verifiable evidence. Making such accusations without proof is nothing short of a deliberate attempt to damage the reputation of a public official and to cast a shadow over the integrity of the Nigerian government. We find it deeply troubling that a foreign public office holder would make or be associated with such a weighty claim without presenting any facts to support it. This is not how responsible leadership operates. It undermines trust, disrespects diplomatic engagement, and fuels unnecessary tension between nations. Nigeria is not a dumping ground for unverified narratives, and its officials must not be subjected to baseless international ridicule. Bello Matawalle has been actively engaged in addressing the security challenges confronting Nigeria, working tirelessly within a complex and demanding national environment. It is therefore not surprising, though highly unfortunate, that individuals or interests threatened by ongoing efforts to stabilize and strengthen national security may resort to smear tactics and misinformation to weaken public confidence. We state clearly that Nigerians are discerning and will not be misled by sensational headlines designed to provoke outrage without substance. The damage caused by such false narratives goes beyond one individual. It affects the credibility of our institutions, the morale of those serving the nation, and the global perception of Nigeria. The Association of Concerned Nigerians demands that those behind this allegation either present concrete evidence through appropriate legal and diplomatic channels or immediately retract the statement and issue a public apology. Silence or evasion in the face of such a serious accusation will only confirm the suspicion that this is a calculated act of defamation. We also call on the international community and responsible media organizations to exercise due diligence and professionalism. Publishing or amplifying unverified claims without scrutiny only contributes to misinformation and damages the principles of fairness and truth. Nigeria must be respected. Its leaders must be treated with fairness. And its image must not be dragged through the mud by unsubstantiated claims. The Association of Concerned Nigerians stands firmly in defense of truth, justice, and national dignity. We stand with Bello Matawalle and reject, in its entirety, this baseless and malicious allegation. Enough is enough.

If you come from a state like Kano and never lost an election, that’s genuinely impressive. But how can a Lagosian boast about never losing an election in a state with virtually no opposition? Wallahi, without a divided opposition, Bola Tinubu would never have become President in 2023. His only path to victory was weakening the opposition. We are now seeing him attempt to impose the Lagos template on the entire country, especially as he confronts a united opposition ahead of 2027. Bola Tinubu is a coward who lacks real strategy and always resorts to shortcuts. He was even too lazy to attend school properly.
