I've never been very interested in reading about Building Thinking Classrooms. I generally think that on twitter and outside too many people exaggerate the effectiveness of methods they happen to favour. But there's so much noise on it now, I will do some more reading up.

A personal one 💌 See this envelope? 🌏 It's a congratulations card that my wife packed in my suitcase before I headed off to Australia 8 days ago with the instruction not to open it until 15th June. Nicola knew there would be cause to celebrate yesterday and she knew we'd be 17,000km apart. She's amazing with small touches of support like that. 🥰 But by far her biggest show of support was the day she left a successful 14-year career in law to join the sector that I'm passionate about - education. 💪🏽 Since 2018, she's dedicated herself to learning about all things education, all things maths learning and all things about running a business. On top of her commitment to Maths Circle LTD, she's become governor of a local school and also Chair of Trustees for Bedford Education Association, an edu causes charity in Bedford. 🏋🏽‍♀️ She's immeasurably lifted the impact of Maths Circle over 6 years - there's no sense in counting all the ways - using talent that only she has, an abundance of warmth and a tenacity like no other. 🙏🏽 Nicola, thank you for the little things, the big things and all the things in between. Most of all for joining me on this journey. You'll never know how much it means to me. 🎖️ It's with the greatest humility that I received an OBE for services to education yesterday and, starting with Nicola's card, I've received a lifetime's worth of congratulations in 24 hours, for which I'm very grateful. But, you see, it's an honour that Nicola very richly deserves for *her* services to education. 🦸🏽‍♀️🦸🏽‍♂️ Now then, there is a team at @MathsCircleLtd who should be front and centre for recognition too. You are part of this. You give it all. You're crusaders and changemakers. ⏳ Speaking of which, the job isn't done. To get every child leaving school saying "I'm good at maths" is going to take a while longer yet. @AdamRutherford Not an accidental purchase but whilst in Italy bought one of those 10 cl campari sodas telling my kids with ABSOLUTE certainty I was having a little 10 ml s of Campari (I am a maths teacher who struggles with measure).

It's funny the effect that a simple sentence can have... "What can I try first' led to a lot of different thoughts... It also eventually led to a class conclusion connecting factors of the total amount and the ratio used.. Via lots of practice! @DrHelenDrury @laura_tyler_
