The Iranian nuclear program remains very much intact, despite repeated attacks by the United States and Israel: 1) What was destroyed: Much of the Fordow and Natanz enrichment sites. The nuclear buildings at Isfahan. The yellowcake production sites. Labs and research facilities for weapons-related work. The high-explosives testing facility at Parchin and a significant number of nuclear scientists. 2) What survives: 1,000 lbs of near-weapons-grade (60%) uranium stockpile. This 60% material is only a short technical step away from weapons-grade (90%).An unknown number of centrifuges. The underground enrichment site at Isfahan. The "Pickaxe Mountain" fortified tunnel complex near Natanz, which is potentially beyond the reach of even the US's most powerful bombs. Most importantly, the core weaponization knowledge. 3) After surviving the relentless Israeli and American attacks, Iran's allies believe in the regime more. Russia and China may be more willing to help with the Iranian nuclear program. 4) The motivation for Iran to build a bomb has never been higher. They see how the US does not mess with North Korea and how respectfully it treats Russia in Ukraine. The lesson is clear. To deter future attacks, they need a bomb. The bottom line is that a bomb is still within reach despite harm to the infrastructure. Iran still has the material and likely the hardware to enrich uranium. This is one of the reason talks in Islamabad failed. Iran no longer has an incentive to compromise on the nuclear program like they did in the past. An Iranian bomb is very likely. Israel and the US pushed them to it.

@CaitlinDoornbos @305Live2 @DecolonialMinds You're making excuses and being biased for the US. Even pakwho was facilitating those ceasefire msgs reiterated that lebanon was part of the deal. Wytkoff lied similarly even though Omanis admitted they had a deal agreed in previous talks. I guess everyone lies except the US lol

IRGC has warned any approach by military vessels toward the Strait of Hormuz will be seen as a violation of the ceasefire, but Trump has pointed out the ceasefire achieved was dependent on Iran reopening the strait — which hadn't really happened.

@CaitlinDoornbos @Hum_Imran_Khan Iran is not bound by UNCLOS. Was it not affecting global order when fishing boats were being bombed in international waters, when Venezuela and Cuba was/is being starved intentionaly, bombs were intentionally being dropped on unis, hospitals and killing civilian leaders with fams

@Hum_Imran_Khan The problem is that changes global order and violates UNCLOS, which would cost all the world’s countries. It also by nature would be Iran charging ships only so they aren’t attacked — which is kind of like giving the school bully your lunch just so he won’t beat you up.

@karaokecomputer I suspect Team Trump is banking on other economies being more hard hit, forcing them to commit military assets against Iran. Even China and India. But I doubt that will happen.

I know I’m probably starting to sound like a broken record here but recent developments are yet another tremendous victory for Iran. That the first round of talks failed so quickly put to bed what little concern remained domestically that the Iranian delegation was falling into a familiar trap; they return greeted as the steadfast heroes they are. They refused to make any onerous concessions, as they had promised not to do in their public statement (that so few people actually bothered to read). To the rest of the world it was an opportunity to see Iranian leadership’s full humanity on display, looking unified, professional, beloved by the host country, and driven to show that they were well-prepared good-faith partners in the negotiation process on behalf of their people and in honor of the memory of their martyrs, including the souls of the 167 Minab schoolchildren they brought with them. Pakistan Air Force reaching Eastern Saudi Arabia at a time when Pakistan is marketing itself as an honest broker between the US & Iran is a very bad optic. In the first instance, the “Mutual Defense Pact” between Pakistan & Saudia (Sept, 2025) is a ridiculous misnomer for a mercenary relationship where Saudis can only pay for Pakistan’s services through deferred oil payments, credit facilities & permitting expatriate remittances etc. This neatly fits in the pattern of mercenary relationship feuding European princely states exhibited in the period before the 18th century rise of nation states..Pakistan’s only defense challenge lies in its East with India and in case of a conflict the only help Saudis can extend is “Good Will” or the kind of mediation, Pakistan is offering to Iran which in reality is “Helping President Trump”..Saudis don’t even have the space to offend India when it comes to Pakistan.. Pakistan ~Saudi mercenary relationship demonstrates the extent to which Pakistan has lost its sovereignty because of its failing economy. Since nothing is working for economy, one can fear more and more shameless compromises in near future. Over the past few years, US led or influenced global institutions (IMF, World Bank, ADB, UK Aid, and EU’s GSP plus etc) have helped maintain a financial drip for Pakistan that has prevented a political meltdown but Pakistani regime is forced to give away more and more of its sovereignty & related resources without getting anything substantial for its economy and people. Majority of Pakistanis are becoming more and more poor, income inequality is increasing- but antics like the “Roman Games in Coliseum” continue like this “Islamabad Talks” - unless something substantial flows out for Iran, Pakistan and the region these talks will only be remembered as “Trump & Saudi Bail out” - Iran’s real need is lifting of Primary, Secondary & UN Sanctions and can make Nuclear related compromise in return; Pakistan benefits in a big way if Sanctions are lifted. Because Pakistan’s biggest problem that makes its exports uncompetitive is cost of energy. Iranian gas through IPI can give Pakistan breathing space & Iran provides a geographic corridor to Turkey and Europe - but Pakistani elite are busy as always in antics to please their masters and fooling people! PAF landing in Eastern Saudi Arabia and US Warships entering Straits of Hormuz (if without coordination with Iran’s military, as claimed by Barak Ravid in Axios) at a time when Iranian leaders are busy negotiating with the US Vice President, JD Vance, are not good signs - and raise very difficult questions! @tparsi @vali_nasr @RealScottRitter @BarakRavid

@alikazmi79 @MoeedNj Israel has 20% muslim population, they live without discrimination. Is any Islamic country there with Jewish population? It's Muslims who have issue with Jews/Hindus/Christians as their religion does not accept anyone who is kafir. Kafirs can either live as dhimmi or convert.

Read Between the Lines - JD Vance announcement “we didn’t get a deal,” is really code to Iran, Pakistan is no longer supporting you. You’re alone in this. “Whatever shortcomings of the negotiation, it wasn’t because of the Pakistanis who did an amazing job and really tried to help us and the Iranians bridge the gap and get to a deal,” Vance said.

This claim by the vice president these talks represented a “last, best chance“ to resolve the war, is it itself a bad sign. That’s not how diplomacy works. It took years to negotiate an end into the Vietnam war, and a year and a half to negotiate armistice to bring the Korean war to an end. To think that you’re gonna have a single diplomatic meeting, that’s gonna solve a war, is unrealistic in the extreme. If this truly was a last offer, then it was no negotiation at all, it was merely an ultimatum with a requirement for surrender. Pretty unlikely Iran will accept such terms, and most likely this just starts a countdown clock for a resumption of the war. Problem for us is, the same reasons we didn’t have military success in the first six weeks all still exist, and we are not likely to have success in the next six weeks either. Meanwhile, Iran will maintain control of HORMUZ, and the price of oil will remain high, and the dearth of fertilizers leaving the Gulf will continue to exert profound pressures on the global economy, especially here in the United States. This is not a good day for America.

@Anything4UAnyt @tparsi Hence the problem, the US is seeking to remove Iran's ability to produce weapons-grade material within weeks, as you say. That is the fundamental divergence. If negotiations on that fail, it will be determined on the battlefield. In my view, it's a concession Iran could make

Vance lists the nuclear issue as the first issue as to why a deal has not been reached. He says that an affirmative commitment not to build a nuclear bomb has not been given. (It was given in the JCPOA as well as in the Geneva proposal just a few weeks ago...)

And this is the fundamental problem. Trump and Vance told them they created a “best and final offer” that the Iranians did not accept. It was never a real negotiation. It was Trump trying to get his demands met. Trump didn’t care about the outcome because he intends to continue the war. Vance stood at the podium and basically threatened Iran saying that this outcome was “worst for them”

JD Vance addressed reporters in Islamabad and said he is heading back to the U.S. without a deal. He says the U.S. made its “best and final” offer and it’s up to the Iranians to accept it. He said that the U.S. wanted assurances that Iran would never seek a nuclear weapon and also that they would not do anything that could get them in a position to pursue one. He didn’t offer clarity on what that meant.

You know what would be amazing if Vance and his team can negotiate an agreement where Iran doesn't enrich above 3.67% (far below weapons grade); gets rid of 98% of its stockpile of enriched uranium; has weekly inspections by the IAEA; keeps the straits open without charging anyone; and commits to all of this for at least ten years. Oh, yeah, that was the Obama Iran deal.
