@ShAsrarRashid And you Think GCC will standby and watch. You're delusional. Pakistanis are one of the leading law breakers in GCC and you want them to invade one of GCCs. If they deport all your beggars your GDP will crumble.

Rather than paying the UAE the 4 billion debt, Pakistan should invade the UAE and annex it. Then the Madkhalis can advocate obedience to the new ruler.

How many times has the US been an intermediary in a War in the past 250 odd years- Perhaps Hardly How many times has the Soviet Union/ Russia been an interlocutor since 1917 not to talk about Tsarist Russia to end a war - Perhaps Never How many times has China been a go between in a conflict since Millennia - Hardly ever. Big and confident powers are actors not brokers. Small or Middle Powers seeking recognition through mediation . That should explain Pakistan’s role in the attempted arbitration between Iran and the US . History is instructive. People should read

@RoofeDodger @dmuthuk Iran has never ratified @UN CLOS & the deep water passage at Strait of Hormuz passes only through Iranian territorial waters. The Omani side is too shallow for large draft vessels. It ignores convention but illegality is debatable. 🇬🇧🇺🇲 etc have always enforced free passage.

Iran has granted special transit approval through strait of Hormus for only five nations - India, China, Russia, Iraq, and Pakistan. If these countries continues to trade with Iran, send and receive ships, would Trump attack them as he said any ship allowed by Iran would be attacked? If America attacks vessels of Russia, China and India - what would be the consequences? Trump is dragging the world to a quagmire.

Trump's move to blockade the Strait of Hormuz is actually a very smart tactical move. Iran can't get any oil out and earn money. Countries like I dia and China also will now be affected. What exactly are Iran's options now?

Pakistan Air Force reaching Eastern Saudi Arabia at a time when Pakistan is marketing itself as an honest broker between the US & Iran is a very bad optic. In the first instance, the “Mutual Defense Pact” between Pakistan & Saudia (Sept, 2025) is a ridiculous misnomer for a mercenary relationship where Saudis can only pay for Pakistan’s services through deferred oil payments, credit facilities & permitting expatriate remittances etc. This neatly fits in the pattern of mercenary relationship feuding European princely states exhibited in the period before the 18th century rise of nation states..Pakistan’s only defense challenge lies in its East with India and in case of a conflict the only help Saudis can extend is “Good Will” or the kind of mediation, Pakistan is offering to Iran which in reality is “Helping President Trump”..Saudis don’t even have the space to offend India when it comes to Pakistan.. Pakistan ~Saudi mercenary relationship demonstrates the extent to which Pakistan has lost its sovereignty because of its failing economy. Since nothing is working for economy, one can fear more and more shameless compromises in near future. Over the past few years, US led or influenced global institutions (IMF, World Bank, ADB, UK Aid, and EU’s GSP plus etc) have helped maintain a financial drip for Pakistan that has prevented a political meltdown but Pakistani regime is forced to give away more and more of its sovereignty & related resources without getting anything substantial for its economy and people. Majority of Pakistanis are becoming more and more poor, income inequality is increasing- but antics like the “Roman Games in Coliseum” continue like this “Islamabad Talks” - unless something substantial flows out for Iran, Pakistan and the region these talks will only be remembered as “Trump & Saudi Bail out” - Iran’s real need is lifting of Primary, Secondary & UN Sanctions and can make Nuclear related compromise in return; Pakistan benefits in a big way if Sanctions are lifted. Because Pakistan’s biggest problem that makes its exports uncompetitive is cost of energy. Iranian gas through IPI can give Pakistan breathing space & Iran provides a geographic corridor to Turkey and Europe - but Pakistani elite are busy as always in antics to please their masters and fooling people! PAF landing in Eastern Saudi Arabia and US Warships entering Straits of Hormuz (if without coordination with Iran’s military, as claimed by Barak Ravid in Axios) at a time when Iranian leaders are busy negotiating with the US Vice President, JD Vance, are not good signs - and raise very difficult questions! @tparsi @vali_nasr @RealScottRitter @BarakRavid

Great respect to @realDonaldTrump He is the only leader standing for global peace. A rogue state like Iran cannot be handled in civilized manner. Blackmailing and extorting money is what Iran has been doing for decades. Trump finally calls out the bluff.

Now that talks at Islamabad have not succeeded , fielding Vance for them without enough preparatory work to keep the ball rolling in the expectation that this first round would provide no breakthrough but would lay the ground for continuing at technical level, was evidently a mistake. The question arises why this may not have been sufficiently factored in as a contingency? If the intention to find an exit from the war was genuine then why this faulty strategy? Fielding Vance may have been intended to convey to the Iranians America’s seriousness to explore a workable solution. Iran may have believed that having their 10 point plan conveyed to the American side, the US would come with a more accommodating mindset. Trump may actually be believing in his rhetoric that the US has the upper hand and can rain more destruction on Iran. This sentiment was echoed by Vance in his press statement announcing that the US had clearly drawn its red lines at the talks. No agreement was reached as Iran did not accept US terms, and that this was “ bad” for Iran. On the nuclear issue , Iran already made major concessions in the JCPOA and even more during the mediation by Oman. The uranium enrichment issue seems to be overplayed by the Americans. On the Hormuz Strait issue the Iranian position should not be acceptable internationally but is the product of US folly in attacking Iran. Iran probably feels that despite what Vance said, the US has no good choices and would return to the negotiating table. It is not clear which side is overplaying its hand. If Iran feels it can suffer more mayhem and cause more mayhem in return, this is hardly any consolation to the rest of the suffering world which wants this needless conflict to end. All this means continuing uncertainty. India has major diplomatic challenges ahead by way of protecting its interests.

UAE’s🇦🇪 Mishal Kanoo: We DON’T RETALIATE against Iran because we don’t want the Iranian people to remember us as an ATTACKER! @afshinrattansi: You can see from Iran’s point of view, and I think it’s widely accepted that the UAE hosting United States bases, even though the UAE, like Saudi Arabia, has said on no account can they be used for attacks on Iran… Still creates a situation where hosting those bases makes GCC countries targets when the United States is involved in military operations. @MishalKanoo: “If I accept that premise, and I do, then I should also extend the same logic to Azerbaijan, which has Israeli bases, and to Turkey, which has American bases. There was a hit on Azerbaijan, of course, and then they said it was a mistake. The same thing happened with Turkey — “sorry, it’s a mistake” — and that was a NATO country after all. The reason why the IRGC is attacking our part of the world is because they perceive us to be an easy target — someone who is not going to retaliate. And we’re not going to retaliate, not because we can’t, but because there’s a difference between not wanting to retaliate and being unable to. They know that if you attack Turkey, you are dealing with a proper army and a capable military. Turkey has been actively involved in conflicts and skirmishes in Syria, Iraq, and Azerbaijan. It’s a frightening prospect for them because of both capability and proximity — Turkey has the military strength to project force directly into Iran. Azerbaijan is similar. It may not be viewed as a major military superpower, but there are approximately 15 million Azeris living in Iran. If Azerbaijan were to respond to an attack by moving in, Iran would face a significant internal and external challenge. This is why, in the eyes of the IRGC, we are seen as the easier target — and why they keep hitting us. The argument that this is simply because of American bases doesn’t fully hold. Yes, the bases are there — but what about American ships, frigates, and other assets? Why aren’t they being targeted in the same way? Why is it primarily our region, where there is little to no retaliatory trajectory from our side? It’s because we know that, ultimately, they will remain our neighbours. We do not have an issue with the Iranian population, and we don’t want to create one for the future. When the current rulers eventually move on and new leadership emerges, we don’t want to have a history where we were the aggressors.” -One of the UAE’s🇦🇪 most prominent businessmen @MishalKanoo, Chairman of the @KanooGroup_UAE, and one of Gulf Business’s Top 100 Powerful Arabs 2025.
