There is only one city in the United States that doesn't grow north - Minneapolis-St. Paul, restricted by geography. Every other city in the country grows north. That's the framework Rex Glendenning has been using for 40 years to position himself in front of growth. People in Celina laughed at him 30 years ago for buying dirt in the boondocks. He plowed every dollar after taxes and overhead back into 40 and 50-acre tracts anyway. In this clip from this week's episode - the rule of thumb Rex says should be on the first page of every real estate book.

What they're really saying is that SP does not know how their version of city government works - the kickbacks, the fraud, the double-dealing. The wet nurse that the city has become just might be about to lose her supply.

@Acyn What is the track record of the people who have the "background or knowledge" in LA over the past 5-6 yrs?

For those keeping track, Kristoff's piece: - Was published to pre-empt a detailed report about sexual violence by Hamas, full of actual evidence. - One of his main quoted Israeli sources says Kristoff misrepresented his take. - The article omits context about the background of its sources. - Several of his cited victims have a clear record of significantly changing their story. Kristoff omits any explanation for these changes. - The main source of the most significant abuse claim is a terrorist-tied org that has pushed constant insane conspiracies. A group that denies extensive evidence of widespread sexual violence by Hamas and had an interest in pre-empting the report mentioned in the first point. - The article promotes a central claim from that group about dogs being trained to rape people, which is biologically unlikely and has almost no supporting evidence. Kristoff has since misled followers about the medical evidence to support the possibility. Another primary linked source for the claim is an online grifter known for making stuff up, sexually harassing women, and sending inappropriate photos to minors, while having no firsthand knowledge to support the claim. The NYT fired several people for publishing a Tom Cotton op-ed with a very mainstream view about preventing mob violence, but Kistoff knows there will be zero consequences for any of the above because the NYT consistently adopts the view that journalistic standards don't apply when publishing anti-Israel content.

I'm curious about this Shuster guy. The idea that the NYT would go through the lengthy process of publishing this article, which would of course include considerable vetting, and then *within hours* go WHOOPS WE MAY HAVE TO RETRACT... this defies belief.
David Shuster@DavidShuster

Hearing from longtime friends @nytimes there are already discussions, including up the masthead, about retracting @NickKristof column. Issues with source credibility and lack of evidence. No indications the Kristof sourcing mistakes were deliberate. Still problematic:

Yesterday, in a NYT piece titled "I'm a Democrat. My Party Has a Double Standard on Antisemitism," @RepJoshG cited as evidence Democrats who "increasingly excuse, or join, feverish denunciations of Israel, our longstanding, democratic and strategic ally."
Nicholas Kristof@NickKristof

This is a hard article to read, but I hope you'll do so. I've spent some time reporting on widespread rape and other sexual violence of Palestinian male and female prisoners by Israeli authorities, and the article is now published. The assault victims were warned not to give speak of what they endured -- they were sometimes told they would be killed or raped if they gave interviews -- but they found the courage to do so. One man described being raped three times in a single day in Israeli prison, the third time after he tried to protest. A young woman said the guards would come in at the beginning of each shift and strip her naked and abuse her. Another reported that she was shown photos of herself being raped and warned they would be released unless she cooperated with Israeli intelligence. Even three children who had been detained told me they had been sexually abused. Look, whatever our position on the Middle East, we should be able to agree on being anti-rape. Sexual assaults were horrific when Israeli women were targeted on Oct. 7, and they're equally horrific when Israeli authorities use them against Palestinians day after day after day. We should be able to find common ground in opposing rape. Here's a gift link to the article: nytimes.com/2026/05/11/opi…

Imagine being a New England Democrat strategist at the start of this election cycle. You had a plan. Jeanne Shaheen and Janet Mills. The two would coast to easy victories in their respective states. And even if Shaheen retired, ha, you can find someone to beat Bolduc! Don't even need to pull Chris Pappas from his seat. And Jared Golden is Golden in ME-02. Look at you now. Platner is going to throw away the rare chance to beat Collins in a GOP presidential midterm. Golden retired, leaving ME-02 open and tainting the Dems as extreme in the process. A Sununu is running in New Hampshire, and Pappas had to abandon his safe NH house seat to challenge him in what may turn out to be a fruitless effort. The world was literally in your hands and you threw it all away for the Oystergraspenfurer Platner. There must be so much buyer's remorse in the Dem camp right now. But at least Maggie Goodlander avoided an indictment!

JUST IN: Baltimore bakery truck struck by a United Airlines plane coming in for a landing at Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey. According to local reports, the plane was a United Airlines Boeing 767-400. Senior vice president of Transportation & Logistics at H&S Bakery, Chuck Paterakis, says the driver was headed from Baltimore to New Jersey when he was hit. The driver suffered minor injuries, according to Fox Baltimore. "Our maintenance team is evaluating damage to the aircraft and we will investigate how this occurred," a United spokesperson said.

@GrageDustin @Michele_Tafoya A lot of wishcasting here. MNGOP basically has zero support in Hennepin & Ramsey county. The DFL has a lock on all these statewide offices.

Here are the last four polls for the Minnesota Democrat Primary for U.S. Senate in Minnesota. 4/29-4/30: Flanagan +11) 1/14-1/20: Flanagan +13) 1/16-1/17: Flanagan +12) 1/13-1/15: Flanagan +3) She will be the nominee for Democrats, but the good news is that @Michele_Tafoya is out fundraising her. Tafoya is within single digits in polling and has a $700K COH advantage over Flanagan. If Republicans unite, we can win statewide for the first time in decades and carry numerous down ticket races in the proccess.

All right @BenSasse, let's make a bet. Let's divide the US in half. I'll let you pick which half. In your half, you ban Candy Crush. In my half we institute 16 weeks of paid parental leave, universal childcare, & a restored child tax credit. Let's see which has more babies.

“We've stopped making babies. We've decided that being distracted by a dopamine hit around Candy Crush might be a good way to spend your time. Not if you're a full human," former Sen. Ben Sasse says in an extended interview. cbsn.ws/4cA1Jrp
