#𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐃𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 ✍️𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐎𝐑𝐒𝐄𝐃! IGAD Member States have today endorsed the IGAD Child Policy Framework, making commitments to furthering child welfare and upholding child rights in the IGAD region. In a joint communiques that was signed by Ministers in charge of children affairs, Member States agreed to among others; 🌟Develop and enforce comprehensive children’s acts, national child policies and action plans and strategies where they are lacking 🌟6.Ensure meaningful participation of children in the design and operationalization of child rights initiatives 🌟Sensitize and raise awareness to different stakeholders on the provisions and importance of the IGAD Child Policy 🌟Strengthen child rights programming within the IGAD Secretariat

IGAD Ministers Endorse Child Policy Framework to Safeguard Children’s Rights Ministers responsible for Children’s Affairs from across the IGAD region are endorsing the IGAD Child Policy Framework, taking a significant step toward advancing children’s rights in East Africa. The decision is being made during a Ministerial meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The meeting is chaired by H.E. Mouna Osman Aden, Minister of Women and Family of Djibouti, with key participation from: ▪️Hon. #IGADChildPolicy Mme @Fathia Alwan, the Director, @IGADHealths representing the @IGADSecretariat Executive Secretary, @DrWorkneh commended the IGAD Member States for adopting a robust regional Child Policy that aims to empower member states to better fulfil their international and regional commitments while implementing child-sensitive initiatives. She called upon Member States to follow up and develop national action plans, implementation strategies, and robust monitoring and evaluation frameworks.

𝗘́𝘃𝗲́𝗻𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮̀ 𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗿 𝗮̀ 𝗔𝗹𝗶 𝗦𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗲𝗵 🇩🇯 ▪️ L'IGAD supervisera demain l'avancement de projets d'envergure à Ali-Sabieh ▪️ Le Fonds régional de migration de l'@IGADsecretariat a pour mission de soutenir des initiatives régionales visant à gérer les flux migratoires et à améliorer les conditions de vie dans les pays membres. Ce fonds est un mécanisme de financement pour les projets liés à la migration, notamment ceux qui aident les pays à mieux gérer les migrations tout en renforçant les infrastructures et en soutenant le développement économique et social. Dans ce cadre, la mission de supervision de demain de la construction de projets d'infrastructure à Ali Addé et Ali Sabieh fait partie d'un programme visant à améliorer les conditions de vie dans ces régions. Ali Addé et Ali Sabieh, situées dans la région d'Ali Sabieh à Djibouti, sont des zones qui accueillent des populations migrantes, notamment des réfugiés, et des infrastructures de qualité sont nécessaires pour faciliter leur intégration et améliorer leurs conditions de vie. Ces projets d'infrastructure peuvent inclure des bâtiments administratifs, centre communautaire, des infrastructures d'eau potable, des installations sanitaires, des écoles, ou encore des centres de santé, visant à améliorer la gestion des migrations et les conditions de vie des communautés locales et migrantes. Le financement de ces projets est assuré par le gouvernement allemand, par l'intermédiaire de la KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau), une institution de financement qui soutient des projets de développement dans les pays en développement. La KfW a une expérience solide dans la gestion des fonds de développement et la supervision de projets d'infrastructure, et elle joue un rôle essentiel dans le financement des initiatives d'infrastructure dans ces régions. This handover of digital health equipment is more than just a transfer of technology; it is a testament to our unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of the people in the IGAD region. These tools will empower health professionals and institutions to monitor, respond to, and manage health challenges with greater precision and efficiency. The IGAD Cross-Border Health Program has been a cornerstone of our regional health initiatives, addressing the unique challenges faced by communities living along borders. With the advent of this advanced digital equipment, we are reinforcing our capacity to collect, analyze, and share vital health information in real-time. This will not only enhance disease surveillance but also foster a unified regional response to health emergencies. We are confident that the Ministry of Health, as our dedicated partner, will ensure the effective distribution of this equipment. The earmarked sites, including the three cross-border areas, district health offices, and the Health Information System within the Ministry, will be pivotal in maximizing the impact of this initiative. Let us remember that health knows no borders. Disease outbreaks, pandemics, and other public health challenges demand a coordinated approach that transcends geographic and political boundaries. This initiative is a shining example of what we can achieve when we work together with purpose and determination. #TeacherprofessionalDevelopment #IGADEducation #Entebbe IGAD National Dialogue on Teacher Professional Development for Quality Education, in Entebbe, Uganda Presentation: Overview of IGAD Education program (Djibouti Declaration and Teacher Training. Djibouti Declaration: The mandate for the IGAD Education Program emanated from the Djibouti Declaration (DD) and Plan of Action that was adopted in Dec 2017. Since then a lot of strategic interventions and instruments have been developed and being implemented. Just to mention a few of them: the IGAD M&E Framework, the IGAD Teacher Training Initiative, the IGAD Council of Higher Education, the IGAD Regional Scholarship Program, and the IGAD Regional Qualifications Framework. Why Teacher Training? Teachers are one of the most important components of the teaching-learning process. By extension they are those desired elements of quality education. The key word here is Quality. If a region or a country wants to bring about significant changes in quality of education, that region or country must invest in the quality of teachers in the first place. Poorly trained and inadequately motivated teachers are nothing but obstacles to the quality of education. That is why the IAGD education program emphasizes on building the capacity of teachers to enable its member states to achieve educational quality so that they can cater for the attainment of of national, regional/continental and international development commitments such as the IGAD Five-Year Strategic Objective, Agenda 2063, and the SDGs. Without qualified and empowered teacher, this aspiration can only remain paper tigers.
