My 20 year high school reunion is this year. I've been added to the 200 person Instagram Group chat where everyone's catching up. It is a very sobering reminder that I didn't enjoy growing up in Riverside, CA, nor really relate to the lives my classmates pursued.

@craigjbryan I went E to O as a psychologist because I saw these issues. It's frustrating how little changes where it matters in this regard as other things change immensely over time

@amyyh7 @hubermanlab I think it may relate to the brief breath retention. Plus you have much more air for an even longer exhalation which is when your heart rate slows down. I love this breath work and even though he says it’s not of Yogic origin I teach it in my Yoga classes sometimes.🙏

@hubermanlab I’m curious (and excited by) what the double inhale does for us as opposed to just a deep inhale- extended exhale. Since we do this inherently it seems there is likely a good reason.

Physiological Sighs (deep nasal inhale followed by 2nd brief nasal inhale, then a full exhale via the mouth) is not Yogic or “breathwork”. It is a naturally occurring breathing pattern that reverses hypoxia, occurs in sleep too & also happens to be the fastest way to de-stress.
