Absolute pleasure to coordinate and write for this Special Publication!
ICWA@ICWA_NewDelhi

📢Latest #ICWA Special Publication is Out Now! Migration is not just movement from place A to place B. It is a story of ambition, dignity, and perseverance, but are the current migration governance frameworks upholding the same? Our newly released Special Publication, “Towards a Changing International Migration and Mobility Agenda in 2025: The Indian Perspective,” reimagines the current international migration and mobility discourse putting forward an Indian perspective. At a time when migration is increasingly viewed through a ‘labour’ lens, this volume presents a fresh, human-centric perspective. It highlights circular mobility, youth aspirations, gendered migration realities, and the implications of AI on future mobility flows, and offers some considerations for the implementation of the UN Global Compact for Migration. Read more in the latest ICWA Special Publication titled “Towards a Changing International Migration and Mobility Agenda in 2025: The Indian Perspective” by Prof S.I. Rajan, Founder Chair, International Institute of Migration and Development (IIMAD) @iimad_in, Kerala and Dr. Rakesh Ranjan (IIHRB); Prof. Binod Khadria, President, Global Research Forum on Diaspora and Transnationalism (GFRDT); Prof. Amba Pande, Professor, School of International Studies @sisjnu_official, JNU; Dr. Sugandha Nagpal, Associate Professor, O.P. Jindal Global University @JindalGlobalUNI; and Ms. Ambi @Ambi_2301, Consultant & Research Lead, Centre for Migration, Mobility and Diaspora Studies (CMMDS), ICWA. Click 👉 bit.ly/4lSw723

This is terrible at so many levels. It's unbelievable how devoid of empathy some start-ups and the venture capital ecosystem have become in exploiting labour under the name of product innovation.

Policies cannot be made in vaccum. Incredibly humbling to know more about the on-ground impact state recruitment agencies are doing in #Telangana and #Kerala on facilitating the mobility of Indian workers abroad. Engaging facilitation by @NagpalSugandha and @giz_india!
ICWA@ICWA_NewDelhi

GIZ India @giz_india organised a pre-training and workshop on “Precarious Working Conditions and Global Care Chain” under their programme, Shaping Development-Oriented Migration (MEG). The full-day training workshop focused on key challenges and opportunities that migrant care workers face abroad and on formulating policies on #GlobalCareChains. Ambi @Ambi_2301, RA & Lead, Centre for Migration, Mobility & Diaspora Studies, #ICWA addressed the need for an #intersectional lens in understanding care migration and the value Pre-Departure Orientation Training (PDOT) could play in ensuring the safety and preparedness of care migrant workers abroad. The training had a diverse representation, including State recruitment agencies (Non-Resident Keralites Affairs (NORKA) Roots and Telangana Overseas Manpower Company Ltd (TOMCOM) @tomcom_gmts), NSDC India @NSDCIndia, and a prospective migrant. These representatives shared valuable field insights, shedding light on the lived realities behind care migration.
