This year, Palestinians mark Prisoners Day as Israel intensifies its cruel policies, including by: 👉 Enacting a law expanding the scope of the death penalty, effectively targeting only Palestinians 👉 Continuing to arbitrarily detain thousands of Palestinians, including without charge or trial 👉 Continuing to grant impunity for those implicated in the torture and abuse of Palestinian detainees 👉 Continuing to withhold the bodies of at least 97 Palestinians who died in Israeli detention The international community must exert maximum pressure on the Israeli authorities to immediately end the arbitrary detention of Palestinians, repeal the discriminatory death penalty law and dismantle all laws and practices that contribute to the system of apartheid against Palestinians.

Last night, Ukraine came under a large-scale Russian drone and missile attack, severely damaging residential blocks, a shopping mall, private houses and other civilian objects.   In Kyiv at least four civilians were killed, including a 12-year-old child, and at least 60 were injured. Among the injured are police officers who arrived at the site of the strike, as well as medical personnel who came to rescue people. In Odesa, at least nine people were killed and at least 23 were injured. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.   This was one of the deadliest nights for civilians in Ukraine so far this year. Impunity for attacks on civilians must end. All those responsible must be held accountable.

On April 15, at the direction of #SOUTHCOM commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan, Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations. Intelligence confirmed the vessel was transiting along known narco-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations. Three male narco-terrorists were killed during this action. No U.S. military forces were harmed. @DeptofWar #OpSouthernSpear

Three male narco-terrorists were killed during the second strike. Following the engagements, USSOUTHCOM immediately notified U.S. Coast Guard to activate the Search and Rescue system for the survivor. The Global Sumud Flotilla will once again set sail in a coordinated civilian initiative aimed at breaking Israel’s unlawful blockade on the occupied Gaza Strip. It is a powerful symbol of international solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, who are enduring an ongoing genocide and an inhumane blockade now approaching its 19th year. Israeli authorities must ensure safe passage for these unarmed activists and human rights defenders. The Spring 2026 flotilla arrives amid a dire humanitarian crisis. Six months on since the so-called ceasefire agreement in October 2025, and despite a reduction in the scale of attacks, Israel persists in its genocidal acts against Palestinians in Gaza by continuing to deliberately inflict conditions of life calculated to bring about their physical destruction.
