To commemorate Women’s Month, and mark the start of Sexual Awareness Month, the FIDA-Uganda @Makerere Student Chapter hosted the 𝐅𝐈𝐃𝐀-𝐌𝐔𝐊 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐂𝐓. 🤝 Under the theme “𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒖𝒆𝒔” the get together emphasized the need to sustain conversations on issues affecting women and to keep raising awareness on key prevailing issues. It brought together members of the chapter and affiliated chapters for dialogue, networking, and shared learning on women’s rights and advocacy. A lot was learnt and life-long connections were formed. One thing that remained distinct is that it's through our conversations that movements are sparked and it's through our questions that change is driven for. ✨ Supported by @unwomenuganda, @EUinUG, @NLinUganda under @GlobalSpotlight through the HER Access: SRHR & SGBV Response project. #FIDAULeadershipAcademy

Change has never been the work of one organization speaking the loudest. It grows when different voices choose to stand beside each other. When partners listen, not just lead. When organizations bring not only their plans, but also their humility, courage, and commitment to shared purpose. As we move through #BridgingFeministVoices, we are reminded that #CollectiveAction is not about sameness. It is about building enough trust to work across differences, hold the hard conversations, and keep showing up for girls and young women with honesty and purpose. We are proud to be working alongside different organizations and partners who believe that feminist change is stronger when it is connected, rooted, and shared. Because no single organization can carry this work alone. But together, we can widen space for voice, deepen solidarity, and push for the kind of change that lasts. @educ_ForAll @nilegirlsforum @HerInternet @WomenProbono @ceforduganda @afwagafrica @medicamondiale @UgFeministForum

We keep telling girls and young women to “be confident,” but too often we leave them to build that confidence in spaces that do not feel safe, fair, or kind. Confidence does not grow from pressure alone. It grows when someone is heard. When a girl is believed. When a young woman is given room to speak without being dismissed. When leadership is not mocked. When ambition is not treated like arrogance. That is the conversation we need to have more honestly. If we want girls and young women to lead, we must do more than encourage them. We must create environments where they can question, try, fail, rise again, and still be treated with dignity. And that's where #leadership begins, not in titles, not in applause, but in the everyday conditions that allow girls and young women to use their voice, make choices, and grow into their power. Share vawg.memprow.org/publications/B… with someone raising or mentoring a girl. #ChoiceVoicePower #YoungWomenLead #FeministLeadership #GirlsAgency #GenderJustice @medicamondiale @woman_kind @CARE @CAREUganda @FeministsForAll @ladymermaidUg @Classic_Caceo @AU_WGYD @MemprowZim @MemprowGirls

💰 $1000 ⏳ 3–4 months That’s it. The African Peer Review Mechanism @OneYoungAfrica +. @RestlessDev are selecting 20 young Africans. And no, you don’t need “big qualifications.” If you’re active in your community, you already qualify. You’ll help review the African Youth Charter and influence real policy. They also fund activities you agree on. Deadline: April 30 I’ll be sharing more opportunities like this (not just jobs). Stay close.

“The strength of any nation lies in accountability, justice, and the institutions that serve its people.” 📌 I facilitated a session on “The Role of the Ombudsman in Socio-Economic Transformation of Uganda” at the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Leaders’ Retreat at the National Leadership Institute (NALI), Kyakwanzi. This critical dialogue reaffirmed that meaningful socio-economic transformation can happen with strong oversight systems, effective citizen redress mechanisms, and uncompromising integrity in public service. At the heart of governance is trust, and trust is built when institutions respond, leaders are accountable, and citizens are heard.

UPDATE: They hid the alleged offence for the past 4 days because it wasn’t an arrestable offence to begin with. The National Voter’s Roll is a public document. This is state capture. Plain & simple. Hence our position in Executive Order RNB No 6— No More Neutrality. #VoteAndStay

UPDATE: The unexplained home invasion, arrest & detention of @SarahBireete—ED @ccgea1 & pres @eacsof—has the hallmarks of a counter-intelligence project aimed at interfering with the civil society’s election observation mission she heads, with the intended effect of intimidation.

Earlier today, I joined the family and friends of @SarahBireete, as well as representatives from Uganda's women's movement, to witness the charges brought against her and to stand surety for her release. Sarah was charged with unlawful obtaining or disclosure of personal data, a charge we consider baseless and politically motivated. The Magistrate allowed time for the prosecution to respond to the bail application on January 21st, 2026, which is passed the polling day, and remanded her to Luzira Prison. We view this as a deliberate target against regime critics to hinder their participation in the electoral process, which is unfortunate, undemocratic and unacceptable. @ccgea1 @FOWODE_UGANDA @WDNUganda @amwaafrika @uwonet @AgoraCFR @WomenProbono @FIDAUganda @NimdUganda
