Today is "Big Give", Berkeley's 24-hour online fundraiser Last year @Berkeley_EECS graduated 1,029 Computer Science majors. Next year it will be ~350. 🤗 Exciting Update: Today I started a new chapter at @USAA as a Senior Creative Design Consultant! What does this mean for @Sprintfolio_co ? My role at USAA involves supporting leaders in transforming complexity into clarity through effective communication design and storytelling. What a useful skillset to strengthen, right? 😉 It feels good to return to a mission-driven team that deeply empathizes with their users. Empathize, not sympathize, is a key difference here! Many of USAA’s employees are veterans or are related. I believe this attributes to their success, and like Sprintfolio, all my cofounders were transitioning designers who have gone through the trials of what our users have experienced. 🫡 SO, the mission continues! Big sigh of relief, I am grateful to have landed on my feet, and I am still deeply rooted to uplifting early-career designers to work towards their own success stories. Reflecting on the journey since my layoff in June 2022: ✨ Gained a great foundation in UX through a ux apprenticeship ✨ Met my amazing cofounders at @MiamiHackWeek ✨ Took on a 3-month contract as a post-production specialist at UT Austin ✨ Became an @ADPList mentor and gained more confidence, realizing that career transitioning doesn’t mean starting at zero. ✨ Joined @_buildspace S3 and invited to their first school at San Francisco to build Sprintfolio Throughout this process, I applied to 29 jobs, faced 14 rejections, and did 6 interviews. Despite the instability, I embraced risks and focused on learning what was fun and brought me joy. The old me would’ve applied to at least 300+ jobs and gotten into a deep spell of regret. Instead, I focused on a journey based on growth, compelled me to sprint fast, and take breaks when needed. I built a network of colleagues that I value, respect, and am inspired by daily. Excited to launch our open beta to champion early-career designers and bring more women in tech in less than a week! 🚀

Gig economy workers from @bykeapk @CareemPAK @inDrive @foodpanda_pk @KraveMart along with content creators, free lancers, tech companies with local and global clients. Are all loosing money today. Who is responsible for this? The daily wage worker who uses deliveries as a way to sustain them selves is out of luck today. Restaurants who rely on delivery orders and who use credit card & debit card machines using Sims to Will loose out on sales and revenues. @StateBank_Pak this is terrible for electronic payments and economic progress. ECommerce players and logistics providers who manage deliveries using smart phones are also dead in the water. Let's not forget the revenue losses to all the telcos. Think about pharmacies and hospitals and the chaos this disruption causes when you are faced with a medical emergency and there is no one on the other side of the line. May sanity prevail and communications restored soon.
