Mahra Baloch Raises Human Rights Concerns in Balochistan at UNHRC Session Geneva: Mahra Baloch - @MahraJaleel, a member of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), highlighted the grave human rights situation in Balochistan during the 61st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council. She drew attention to ongoing enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and the targeting of political activists by Pakistani authorities. Mahra Baloch urged the international community to take immediate notice of the deteriorating situation and called for concrete steps to ensure accountability and the protection of fundamental human rights in Balochistan. Here is complete text of her speech : Mr. President, In Balochistan, an entire people are being punished for existing. Under the guise of “counter-terrorism,” the Pakistani state has turned law into a weapon-criminalizing dissent, erasing lives, and silencing an entire nation. Pakistan’s Anti-Terrorism Act has been misused to label Baloch activists, students, and human rights defenders as so-called “proscribed persons.” This label strips them of freedom, denies their right to travel, and places them under constant threat. In 2025 alone, “Paank” the Human Rights Department of the Baloch National Movement, documented 1,355 enforced disappearances and 225 extrajudicial killings. These are not statistics, they are fathers taken from homes, students abducted from campuses, and bodies returned as warnings. Dr. Mahrang Baloch, a Nobel Peace Prize nominee, has been arbitrarily arrested, denied medical care, and targeted solely for peaceful advocacy. Internet shutdowns, mass surveillance, and collective punishment are routine-designed to ensure that the world does not see what is happening in Balochistan. Mr. President, silence enables these crimes. We urge this Assembly to demand that Pakistan immediately end these violations, release all arbitrarily detained Baloch activists, and initiate independent, investigations into enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings. I thank you. #BNM #GlobalCampaign #HRC61 thebnm.org/programs/confe…

BNM Continues Month-Long Global Campaign at UNHRC Session, Highlighting Enforced Disappearances and Collective Punishment in Balochistan Geneva : Baloch National Movement’s formal activities at the UN Human Rights Council’s 61st session began today and will continue until 28 March 2026. This statement is issued as part of BNM’s month-long campaign to highlight ongoing human rights abuses in Balochistan. #BNMGlobalCampaign #HRC61 #BNMatHRC61 Today, Saleem Ellahi Baloch addressed the Council, speaking both as an activist and as a brother. He recounted the enforced disappearance of his elder brother, Zahid Baloch, former Chairman of BSO Azad, who was forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces on 18 March 2014 and has not been produced before any civil court since. Saleem also recalled the assassination of his brother, Shah Jahan, in 2025, and raised urgent concerns about the continued illegal detention of activists such as Mahrang Baloch and leaders associated with the Baloch Yakjehti Committee. Here is complete text of his speech : Mr President, I appear before you not just as a witness, but as a brother. My elder brother, Zahid Baloch, former Chairman of the Baloch Students Organization (Azad), was forcibly disappeared by Pakistani security forces on 18th March 2014. It has been 12 years, yet he has never been presented before any civil court, nor has our family been informed about his wellbeing. But my family’s pain did not end there. Collective punishment is one of many tactics being used by the State to suppress political voices. On 15th March 2025, another elder brother, Shah Jahan, was assassinated by state-sponsored death squads in retaliation for my political activism. His assassination was deliberate and intended as a message to anyone who dares to speak out against injustice in Balochistan. Recently Chief Minister of Balochistan Sarfaraz Bugti Openly Mentioned in a Press Conference, State will confiscate assets and impose travel ban to family members of political activists in the name of so-called counter Terrorism Act. Mr President, Families of the forcibly disappeared are being displaced, their homes being destroyed, and their assets seized and controlled by the military. These tactics are designed solely to silence those who raise their voices for their loved ones. Human rights violations in Balochistan are escalating at an alarming pace. Political and human rights activists are being silenced in brutal and inhumane ways. Mahrang Baloch, human rights activist, is still imprisoned along with other BYC activists on fabricated charges. Mr President, I hope this Council will take immediate action to pressurize Pakistan to stop its inhumane tactics in Balochistan. Thank you. thebnm.org/campaigns/2830…

Pakistan’s Attack on Afghanistan Rooted in Durand Line Dispute and Rejection of Afghan Sovereignty – Dil Murad Baloch The Secretary General of the Baloch National Movement, Dil Murad Baloch, has strongly condemned Pakistan’s bombing of a hospital in Kabul, calling it “deeply shameful and inhumane.” He stated that Pakistan’s military aggression on Afghan soil constitutes a direct attack on Afghanistan’s sovereignty, a serious war crime, and is highly condemnable. He emphasized that in this difficult time of war, the Baloch National Movement stands in solidarity with the brave Afghan nation. He further said that the relationship between the Baloch nation and the people of Afghanistan is not merely one of geographical proximity, but one rooted in history and brotherhood. “Our history bears witness that we have stood by each other in every difficult moment. We are custodians of these traditions, and today as well, the Baloch people stand firmly with their courageous neighbors,” he added. Dil Murad Baloch stated that Pakistan, in its arrogance of military power, has forgotten that it is confronting Afghanistan — a country that defeated the Soviet Union, and more recently, the world’s superpower, the United States, along with the largest military alliance, NATO. He said that Pakistan initiated these attacks under baseless pretexts, but the world is aware that Pakistan’s core issue lies in the Durand Line and its inability to accept a free and sovereign Afghanistan. The Durand Line predates the creation of Pakistan and involves three primary stakeholders: Pakistan, Afghanistan, and the Baloch. It cannot be resolved unilaterally according to the interests of any one party. Various forms of government have existed in Afghanistan — monarchy, communism, religious, and presidential systems — yet despite their differences, all Afghan governments have remained consistent on the issue of the Durand Line. This is why the issue remains unresolved. He further stated that even after serving as a proxy for nearly two decades, Pakistan failed to resolve the Durand Line issue through its alignment with the United States and NATO. The fundamental reason, he said, is that existential national issues are resolved by nations, not by governments. No nation willingly allows a part of its existence to be severed at the hands of an adversary, and this is precisely the stance the Afghan nation continues to uphold. Dil Murad Baloch stated that Pakistan’s second major issue is an independent and sovereign Afghanistan. Whether it was the decision to join the Western alliance against the Soviet Union or later align with the United States and NATO, Pakistan has on one hand sustained its economy through rented alliances, while on the other hand actively contributed to the destruction and destabilization of Afghanistan. The objective has been to prevent Afghanistan, as a state, from becoming stable and independently shaping its national destiny and interests. For decades, Pakistan has treated Afghanistan as “strategic depth” within its military doctrine, ensuring that there is no perceived threat from the so-called Durand Line, and that Afghanistan’s sovereignty remains subordinated to what are described as Punjabi-dominated interests. He concluded by stating that Afghanistan has effectively thwarted both of Pakistan’s objectives. Today’s Afghanistan neither accepts Pakistan’s concept of strategic depth nor recognizes the Durand Line as an international border. As a result, Pakistan is exploiting regional tensions and its role as a proxy of Western powers to carry out aggression against Afghanistan. “History shows that it is not Afghanistan that surrenders its weapons, but Panjabis — and history can repeat itself at any time,” he concluded.

PAKISTAN: It’s been nearly one year. Five Baloch activists, Mahrang Baloch, Bebarg Zehri, Beebow Baloch, Shah Jee Sibghat Ullah and Gulzadi Baloch, remain in unlawful pretrial detention on trumped up charges simply for their peaceful activism. Inside Hudda Jail, Quetta, the activists are facing a secret trial in prison. They are also being denied adequate healthcare, with Mahrang’s health deteriorating significantly in detention. Amnesty International calls on the Balochistan authorities to immediately release all Baloch activists and drop all charges against them. 👉 Join our call for urgent action. 📝 amn.st/BalochActivist #ReleaseMahrangBaloch #ReleaseBalochActivists

Announcement of a Month-Long Campaign for the Right to National Freedom and Against Collective Punishment and Illegal Detentions The Baloch National Movement (BNM) announces a month-long international campaign from 10 March to 9 April for the national freedom and to highlight the ongoing issues of collective punishment, enforced disappearances, and the illegal detention of political and human rights activists in Balochistan. The campaign will include two international conferences, protest demonstrations, a public rally, and advocacy efforts during the sessions of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva. Through these activities, BNM seeks to draw the attention of the international community, human rights organisations, and policymakers to the human rights situation in Balochistan. Political workers, students, and civil society activists continue to face arbitrary arrests, collective punishment of families, and prolonged detention without due legal process. BNM believes these violations are linked to Pakistan’s policies in Balochistan. The movement maintains that the continuing tensions and human rights concerns are rooted in the long-standing political dispute over the status of Balochistan and its solution is freedom of Balochistan. BNM further states that a just and lasting resolution to the crisis requires recognition of the Baloch people’s freedom and right to self-determination and an end to policies that result in repression and collective punishment. During the campaign, BNM will also work with Baloch diaspora communities and international human rights advocates to raise the issue at international forums and call for greater global attention to the situation in Balochistan. BNM also calls on Baloch activists and members of the Baloch diaspora to actively participate in this campaign. Supporters are encouraged to take part in the planned activities in person where possible, and to contribute through social media and online platforms to help raise awareness about the situation in Balochistan. Further details regarding the conferences, protests, rally, and advocacy activities will be announced in the coming days. #BNM

On this International Women’s Day, the world celebrates the courage, resilience, and achievements of women. But for Baloch women, this day comes with a painful reality. Baloch women are under attack. Women who have peacefully raised their voices against enforced disappearances and human rights violations are now being targeted by the state. Today, Dr. Mahrang Baloch and her colleagues face illegal detention simply for speaking for their people. At the same time, Nasreen and several other Baloch women have been forcibly disappeared, a grave violation of international law and human dignity. For decades, Baloch mothers, sisters, and daughters have stood at the forefront of a peaceful struggle for justice—holding photographs of their missing loved ones, marching for truth, and demanding accountability. Instead of listening to their calls, the authorities have chosen repression. Yet despite intimidation, arrests, and disappearances, Baloch women are writing another history through their courage and resistance. Through their struggle, they are redefining the role of women in a society facing repression and showing the world that the fight for dignity and freedom cannot be silenced. This resistance also carries the legacy of Karima Baloch, the exiled Baloch leader and human rights activist whose death in Canada in 2020 shocked the Baloch nation. She was targeted because of her fearless advocacy. Her voice may have been silenced, but her legacy continues to inspire a new generation of Baloch women who refuse to remain silent. On this International Women’s Day, we call on the international community, human rights organizations, and defenders of justice to stand with Baloch women. #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2026

Today, on International Women’s Day, women around the world speak about rights, equality, and freedom. For Baloch women, these words are not slogans. They are the language of survival. For decades, Baloch women were expected to remain inside their homes. But when fathers, brothers, sons and husbands began to disappear, silence became impossible. Mothers started knocking on the doors of police stations and courts. Sisters carried photographs of the missing through streets and highways. Daughters grew up in protest camps instead of playgrounds. From Quetta to Karachi and Islamabad, Baloch women have marched, protested and sat for days and nights demanding one simple answer: where are our loved ones? Today many of those same women are themselves behind bars. Some face fabricated cases. Others are dragged through police stations and courts. Some are imprisoned simply for asking where their missing family members are. But even prison has not silenced them. The story of Baloch women is a story of pain that refuses to disappear. Every protest camp, every photograph held in trembling hands, every mother waiting by the door at night carries the same question. Where are our loved ones? On this International Women’s Day, we remember the courage of Baloch mothers, sisters and daughters who refused to disappear with their loved ones. Their struggle is not only the struggle of the Baloch nation. It is the struggle of every woman who refuses to accept injustice in silence.

We Will Raise the Baloch Voice at Every Forum: BNM Netherlands Chapter Holds Biannual Meeting and Releases Performance Report The Baloch National Movement (BNM) Netherlands Chapter has released a detailed performance report covering its political, diplomatic, and organizational activities over the past six months. In this regard, an important meeting was held, presided by the Chapter President, Muheem Abdul Rahim Baloch, while the party’s Central Junior Joint Secretary, Hassan Dost Baloch, attended as the chief guest. The event was hosted by Vice President Waheed Baloch, who efficiently managed the program’s discipline and administrative affairs. The General Secretary of BNM Netherlands Chapter, Deedag Baloch, presented the six-month performance report, providing a comprehensive record of every protest demonstration, diplomatic meeting, petition, study circle, and awareness campaign conducted during the past six months, along with their long-term impacts. Following this, Bahar Baloch presented the financial report, outlining in full transparency the organization’s income, expenditures, and the costs incurred for various programs. Key Highlights of the Past Six Months: Consistently raising the issue of ongoing human rights violations and enforced disappearances in Balochistan on European soil. Submitting a formal petition to the Dutch Parliament and holding important meetings with representatives of the European Union and various international human rights organizations. Organizing photo exhibitions and distributing pamphlets to raise awareness among local Dutch citizens about the seriousness of the Baloch issue. Conducting regular online and physical study circles to enhance the political maturity of members. Holding question-and-answer sessions, strategic discussions, and critical review meetings to evaluate future plans. Addressing the meeting, President Muheem Baloch stated that organized political work abroad strengthens the Baloch position at the international level. He emphasized that consistent engagement with international institutions ensures that the Baloch issue is heard seriously. He urged members to translate their responsibilities into tangible results. In his concluding remarks, the chief guest, Central Junior Joint Secretary Hassan Dost Baloch, stated that two fundamental pillars are essential for strengthening the Baloch national movement: organizational discipline and the digital front. He clarified that the only path to success internationally lies in a strong and well-organized structure. Activists should dedicate all their energies within the framework of organizational discipline, as a unified and coordinated voice is far more effective than scattered efforts in influencing international institutions. He further emphasized that social media is a crucial tool in the modern era. All members should remain fully active on this front. It is the responsibility of every activist to present documented evidence of the atrocities occurring in Balochistan on digital platforms and bring them before the world.

Civilian Lives Lost in Pakistan’s Attacks on Afghanistan; The Baloch Nation Supports Afghanistan’s Right to Self-Defense – Spokesperson of BNM #BNMSpokesperson | Monday, February 23 , 2026 thebnm.org/statements/282… The spokesperson for the Baloch National Movement (BNM) strongly condemned Pakistan’s attacks on Afghanistan, stating that on the night between 21 and 22 February, Pakistani forces targeted populated areas inside Afghanistan. As a result, entire families — including children — were killed. The Baloch nation stands in solidarity with the affected families and expresses full support for Afghanistan’s sovereignty and its right to self-defense. He stated that Pakistan’s attacks constitute a direct assault on the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and freedom of the Afghan nation, deliberately targeting unarmed civilians. The facts, he said, contradict Pakistan’s official claims. As in previous airstrikes, innocent civilians were intentionally targeted. The spokesperson further stated that for the past 79 years, the primary cause of instability in the region has been the policies of the State of Pakistan, which are driven by both its overt and covert expansionist ambitions. Shortly after its creation, Pakistan occupied Balochistan, stripping its nations of their sovereignty and freedoms and keeping them subjugated under a dominant Punjabi regime. In the present so-called Pakistan, he said, oppressed nations are struggling for their national survival. The world can see that Pakistan has become politically and socially fragmented, and these very conditions have become a source of crisis for the state itself. He concluded by stating that despite military repression and state violence against political forces, Pakistan has consistently failed to resolve its issues. Instead, it seeks to deflect responsibility for its failures onto neighboring countries, thereby fueling instability and a war-like atmosphere in the region. He warned that Pakistan’s military power poses a clear threat not only to the region but beyond. To address this situation, he emphasized that unity and the formation of a joint front among the nations of the region are essential.
