The biggest complaint about AOC in her district is that she’s never around and her office isn’t particularly helpful. Say what you will about Velasquez, she’d get out of bed at 3am for constituent services, and in many parts of Gotham that is expected.

In the long run, this could be a problem for the DSA. There’s only so many guilt ridden college educated white people. When black and Hispanic New Yorkers start to realize how much their political power and constituent services have been reduced, there may be a backlash.

Bike lanes sound great until you realize that the urbanists behind it are aspirational anti-car ideologues who want to eliminate all car lanes out of spite. They come up with silly derogatory names like “car brain” without questioning why one might need a car and dehumanize drivers as if a cyclist is somehow contributing more to society when the reality is that the ones who use it the most are deliveristas for a very small handful of private corporations that have monopolized the industry.

The bike lane people have woken the sleeping giant: the 99% of people who are inconvenienced by them. Bike lanes are an idea born of Woke Era nonsense and anti-car hysteria. People who think they are eco-friendly are wrong. The congestion and longer drive times negate the carbon offset of the 1% of commutes that convert to bikes. The safety argument falls apart when you learn the bike lane lobby doesn’t support the single action you can take to make riding a bike safer: wearing a helmet. (They oppose helmet mandates because they lower overall bike ridership, which lowers the bike lobby’s political clout.) Even if this aldermanic challenger running on an anti bike lane platform loses, we have still seen the peak of the bike lane nonsense.
