@MRPromoApparel @MsRandalll @chelsealeite Not only the position but many can't afford to move beyond House League. The fees, the tournaments, better equipment, let alone the pressure and politics of it all. In the end, no matter the level, my son is an amazing goalie and is learning skills he will have for life.

@MsRandalll @Bizzle1882 @chelsealeite I have been wanting to write a book about this and the position for years. The online era has exposed the low level comprehension of the position in so many ways. All while goalies and their families struggle to afford the position.

If you’re Canadian and you have a son, you MUST put him in goalie training. Right now. We have a goalie epidemic on our hands here.

@MRPromoApparel @chelsealeite My son is a goalie and this 100 percent. Every team has two goalies. He barely gets ice time. We have enough goalies. What we need is more affordable hockey

As a goalie family, I can say with confidence that we do not have a goalie epidemic in Canada. What we are seeing is an epidemic of armchair criticism from people who believe that if a puck gets past a goalie, that goalie is suddenly a sieve. The online goalie hate is very real. It is loud, constant, and uninformed. That noise creates a perceived crisis where none actually exists. Canada continues to develop and produce extremely talented hockey players at every position, including in net. The players on the ice are elite. Elite players score goals. That is what high level hockey looks like. Goals are going to happen. That does not signal failure. It signals good hockey. Reducing complex, fast paced, team driven outcomes to one individual every time a puck crosses the line is not analysis. It is reactionary commentary. If we want strong goaltending in this country long term, we need to support and develop goalies, not tear them down every time the scoreboard changes.

@MikeLakeMP Us hockey parents are used to watching hockey at 6 a.m. but this time warmer than the rink 🤣

😄 In Edmonton (where the game starts at 6 am), we’re just embracing it as the epic event that it is. Bars opening at 6 am, families planning sleepovers around it - the early start time will just add to the incredible story our kids will tell their kids for decades to come! ❤️🇨🇦

Somebody blew it big time by scheduling the men’s hockey gold medal game for 8 a.m. ET Sunday. That just can’t happen. You know it’s going to be U.S.-Canada. European time zones don’t matter. They should’ve worked the entire Olympics schedule around giving it a better slot.

@cnnbrk Canada’s gotta be feeling *something* right now. Probably the sting of realizing they peaked too soon. Still a great game, though. These athletes are incredible.

@stphnmaher So proud of our ladies. They fought so hard. Additionally, it is because of the high quality hockey they produce that we now get to root for our PWHL teams. A bittersweet day.

This is such an important point. We need more of these universally bonding experiences now more than ever. Sometimes they don’t go our way - I can connect with Canadians around my age by lamenting the Rick Monday home run, which we all watched in class during and after lunch (BC time) on October 14, 1981.
Woz@itsWozzz

Shoutout to all the teachers who had that Canada game on during class this morning. Those kids now have a memory they’ll have for the rest of their lives.

Lovely day in the Nation’s Capital. Sun & Tulips out. Warm memories of this town. All seems calm before the storm of Parliament’s return. Hoping for a fresh start from all with a focus on results not rhetoric.
