These aren't just money wasting scams... They are actually adding more emissions. "The company is failing to carbon offset the emissions resulting from its operations..." heimildin.is/grein/24581/

When the term 'denier' is used as a slur, it reveals the fervent defense of a belief system by its adherents... Not science.

@LawrenceLocke6 “The public”; what is this universal mass? I’m aware of many citizens with different views, thoughts, open to discussion, change, inspiration, vision, kindness, care,etc. I’m also aware of a fair few folk who consider themselves cultured, educated & above the ‘masses’ they decry.

Spot on; & nearer to home we’re still expanding airports, selling SUVs & building overly-large houses? With very few, if any, exceptions national leaders have bowed to the demands of their fossil fuel friends knowing full well that the expert community will raise barely a murmur.

This is a disaster for the planet. We need to ask why China and India are increasing coal use so much, not just accept it as a fact of life. Story by my colleague Jillian Ambrose theguardian.com/business/2024/…

@KevinClimate @IATA Already said above. Climate targets need to be revised in accordance with a accurate and comprehensive scientific debate beyond the narrow scope provided by IPCC (which is to be dissolved?) Their attempt to combine science and policies failed. Something new needs to come

@KevinClimate @IATA You can falsify the methods, reasoning, that lead to targets. Policy targets related to 2C come from scientific models, nowhere else. Belief that climate models have predictive capacity has been proven false by many scientists. But policies stick to it x.com/patfrank830/st…

@MP_FossilFree @andy_rowell @campaigncc @PriceofOil @KevinClimate @Andrew9Boswell The IPCC don’t know what they’re talking about and neither do you. frontiersin.org/journals/earth…

@BoryanLeChat @IATA Are you suggesting those at the pointy end of climate impacts should set the targets, if so they may well be tightened significantly? Science can’t falsify the targets it can inform/question the reasoning. The targets are not scientific, they’re derived thro’ a political process.

@KevinClimate @IATA 1. Is outdated written before Green Deal etc 2. It confirms that so-called mitigation doesn't work even for most advanced post-industrial economies Perhaps time to look into targets and scientifically falsify them ? No, not (only) with IPCC

@KevinClimate @IATA Since categories developed-developing changed, developed showed ability to reduce intensity New developed economies should now do the same and Annexes defined in 1992 shall be amended

@BoryanLeChat @IATA Agree, it doesn’t But all ‘developed’ nations signed up in 1992 to cut emissions ahead of & faster than ‘developing’ nations (under the concept of CBDR-RC; lots of refs to this). We’ve re-signed to abide by CBDR at all COPs since. So our commitments are about temperature &equity.

@KevinClimate @IATA Then China should decarbonise first. Climate has absolutely no interest in per capita emissions either

@IATA Worth noting that the climate has absolutely no interest in “efficiency gains” only in emissions!

@MikeHudema No valid scientific evidence that our CO₂ emissions have caused the recent warming. All the alarm and bad press is for nothing. All the wrecked lives: for nothing. All the chopped birds, exploded bats, and sound-injured whales: for nothing. $ to subsidy farmers: for nothing

Repeat after me: We cannot afford to not address the climate crisis. We cannot afford to not address the climate crisis. We cannot afford to not address the climate crisis. We cannot afford to not address the climate crisis. No time to wait. #ActOnClimate
