Today, we are excited to announce that @HackQuest_ has officially acquired @buidlbox, a leading developer platform and community in North America & Europe. In 2023, @EthereumDenver was the first major crypto conference in NA that I attended alongside @tibetanwater representing HackQuest. That year, buidlbox co-hosted hackathons of all sizes across the United States, from Denver to New York, Chicago,Austin, and Atlanta, where I was based. Among them, the ETHDenver Buildathon was one of a kind — over 6,000 developers participated, submitting more than 400 projects, with prizes exceeding $1 million, marking the highest in ETH Denver’s history. Later that year, at the 24-hour hackathon during @Permissionless II, I met @gkimbwala through @404DAO. Gloria, who was then responsible for all of buidlBox’s hackathons and OG developer, made herself available to organize and mentor builders at the event. Together, we met many developers who later became outstanding founders and leading blockchain dev rels. Shortly after, I mentored builders at the inaugural @0xEthChicago - the hackathon was also hosted on buidlbox. A few months later, we had the privilege of co-hosting the Web3ATL 2023 hackathon with buidlbox and 404DAO, collaborating once again. Over the next two years, our paths crossed repeatedly. Gloria consistently supported our initiatives, most notably participating in our Web3 MOOC at @NTUsg from early to late 2024. Earlier this year, during a panel discussion on developers and ecosystem growth hosted by @NicolenguyenEth from @apacdao at ETH Denver, I met @irinamarinescu through Gloria. We quickly reached a consensus on our vision for Web3 founders and developers globally - education in the onchain era should be borderless. After several weeks of discussions with both teams, we confirmed our intent for further collaboration. This acquisition marks a milestone in our journey over the past three years and signifies our deeper involvement in the U.S. and European markets. In an industry where no-revenue, pre-product, narrative-driven, and pump-and-dump become the default elements to fundraising and minshare success and top 100 revenue-generating businesses become “boring”, we have a lot more work to do together. The industry has made it clear: effective blockchain policy must incentivize decentralization. DRC and 50 other leading stakeholders in the crypto industry just delivered a joint letter to @SpeakerJohnson, @RepJeffries, @LeaderJohnThune, and @SenSchumer in support of the CLARITY Act’s robust, control-based decentralization test for digital assets. This is the largest coalition of organizations in agreement on a particular test for decentralization. The CLARITY Act establishes a much-needed standard for evaluating when a digital asset has met a threshold to justify its transition from security to commodity — an essential step for effective market structure legislation. We look forward to engaging further to ensure that blockchain legislation supports decentralization, responsible innovation, and consumer protection to further establish U.S. leadership in blockchain technology.
