The @nytimes is responding to the furor over @NickKristof's blood libel column by falling back on his Pulitzers and his supposed reputation as "one of the world's best on-the-ground reporters." Considering Kristof's history of being easily misled and failing to perform journalistic due diligence, it is a laughable defense. At the Times, institutional prestige and fawning approval clearly matter more than truth and facts.

In his column alleging Israelis are committing mass rape—including the outlandish claim that they are using dogs to rape Palestinian prisoners—@NickKristof relies heavily on "research" from @EuroMedHR. Here's a peek behind the curtain at who is leading Euro-Med: ▪️Euro-Med chairman @RamAbdu claimed in March 2024 that Hamas was not holding elderly civilians, stating all remaining hostages were "military personnel." ▪️Abdu has been caught posting images of injured Syrians and claiming they were victims of Israeli strikes in Gaza. ▪️Abdu posted a "map of sex offenders living in Israel" that was actually a map of rocket siren locations. ▪️Richard Falk, Euro-Med board chairman, was deemed so pro-Hamas that even the Palestinian Authority tried to remove him from his @UN post.

2. Then there's Kristof himself. The Pulitzer-Prize winning columnist has a history of being easily misled and failing to perform needed due diligence. In 2014, for instance, he wrote a mea culpa entitled, “When Sources May Have Lied,” after he was “hoodwinked” by a source who claimed to have been sex trafficked as a young girl:

This comprehensive and well-documented report was published this morning by CNN and other international outlets. Hace meses, la Comisión Civil se acercó al New York Times con un informe sobre la violencia sexual sistemática de Hamás durante el 7 de octubre y posteriormente. @nytimes dijo que no estaba interesado. Este informe exhaustivo y bien documentado fue publicado esta mañana por CNN y otros medios internacionales. Consciente del informe y su fecha de publicación, la noche anterior a su lanzamiento, el NYT lanzó un vergonzoso ataque contra Israel, minimizando los crímenes sexuales de Hamás. Eso te dice todo sobre la agenda del NYT.
