An international advisory body supporting the long-term artistic development of CIFRA was established in 2026 to bring together leading voices in media art, curatorial practice, and digital culture. This year, the Council brings together Christiane Paul, Daniela Arriado, David Elliott, Oliver Grau, Martin Honzik, Lev Manovich, and is led by Olga Shishko, Chief Art Curator at CIFRA.

Intimate in the way only undocumented things can be. "The Waters it came from" is built from AI generated images that look like they were always there, grainy, intimate, almost familiar. It reconstructs scenes that were never filmed: women gathering, sharing what they knew, helping each other. A fictional archive of something that barely left a trace.
