@SarahForRuncorn Yet to hear a single thing from Reform about what they'll do for Makerfield, clearly running scared by just attacking the opponent
English

Andy Burnham is using Makerfield as a stepping stone for his own career.
Reform UK@reformparty_uk
This is the real Andy Burnham. He’s always been a part of the political establishment.
English

@PaulGrimshaw15 @MartinDaubney Because of liquidity, nothing else
English

Lot of people saying it's a smart move to go for the local lad, not another parachuted in outsider. If Robert Kenyon, a plumber, blocks Burnham, his place in British political history will be secured
Reform UK@reformparty_uk
Makerfield was Andy Burnham’s back up plan. For Robert Kenyon, it’s his home. This battle will be David Vs Goliath.
English

@Eccothe2k @Mina_ffs 35% in a general election compared to 63% in the GM mayoral election, can you not see the difference?
English

@Mina_ffs As popular as Burnham is can we stop using 2024 Labour votes? Your party got 35% of the vote in 2024 and are now polling at 17%, we saw the difference in the recent local elections where you lost 1500 seats, almost 500 of which to the greens
English

@LadPolitics Yeah makes sense, its getting spun by Restore voters thats all
English

@DanielBent67126 We wouldn't claim to be forecasting the event & ultimately our aim is to run a profitable book. Their current price largely reflects the money we've laid on them so far and isn't necessarily the price I'd have them here...
English

Now that Labour & Reform UK have confirmed their candidates for Makerfield, let's take a look at the betting:
Labour - 8/15
Reform UK - 9/4
Restore Britain - 6/1
Greens - 150/1
Conservatives - 300/1
Liberal Democrats - 400/1

@ElectionMapsUK @YouGov Do people not realise that Labour are polling at 17% nationally, this poll (GB wide) gives them a 21% increase
English

[GB-wide Poll, Excluding Don't Knows]
Assuming Andy Burnham is selected as Labour's candidate in Makerfield, who would you most like to see win the By-Election:
LAB: 38%
RFM: 27%
GRN: 13%
CON: 8%
LDM: 6%
Other: 6%
Via @YouGov, 17-18 May.
English

@MartinDaubney @ElectionMapsUK @YouGov Labour have gone from 17% nationally to 38% in this poll, if anything it will be higher. Labour would still get more than 17% in Makerfield in national polling
English

@ElectionMapsUK @YouGov What's the point of a nationwide poll for a constituency vote?
English

@TiceRichard Thatcher put it from 5% to 11.9%
How did you rate her again?
English

LABOUR SLAUGHTER 100,000 Jobs in April
UK unemployment rate rises to 5% as jobs market weakens
Only Reform can rescue our economy

English

@RupertLowe10 Its already £325,000 tax free, this isn't for everyone at all.
The % of people who receive more than £325,000 is 4-5%
All this does in increase wealth inequality
English

Restore Britain's latest policy paper has just been released - abolishing inheritance tax.
For farmers, for small businesses, for everyone.
Restore Britain would abolish all inheritance tax.

English

He’ll stand anywhere.
He’ll say anything.
Andy’s in it for himself, not Makerfield.

BEFORE AND AFTER @AndyBurnhamGM on Brexit.
English

@IeuanHughes19 @LabourBerry I put reason as other and I added a comment saying rejoining to back Burnham
English

@LabourBerry Is it a requirement when joining to indicate why they are joining? Yes or no?
English

@SophyRidgeSky @SamCoatesSky Not according to the betting…
Ladbrokes Politics@LadPolitics
Ladbrokes now give Labour a 69% chance of winning in Makerfield Here's how we bet: Labour - 4/9 Reform UK - 15/8 Restore Britain - 20/1 Greens - 100/1 Conservatives - 200/1 Lib Dems - 200/1 ladbrokes.com/en/sports/even…
English

@harley_neil @MENnewsdesk Winter fuel allowance was means tested (too low at first) but is now a common sense policy
CAZ never happened and the idea was forced onto GM by the then Conservative government.
Should save words you don't use for when they're actually warranted I think
English

@MENnewsdesk Millionaires which don’t get affected by policy’s people like Burnham and Labour have put out. Sure there mum wasn’t bothered about the winter fuel allowance being stopped or a CAZ that would have killed small businesses. Wankers. And I don’t normal use words like that on here.
English

Oasis give Andy Burnham permission to use Some Might Say in Makerfield election campaign video

English

@MamaCrazee @TherealNihal Seen less spin from Alastair Campbell, a general election won't be until 2029 either way
If Burnham wins and becomes PM labour will ahead of Reform in polling within 6 months
English

@TherealNihal It's a win/win for Reform. If Labour retain the Makerfield seat, a Labour leadership race begins followed by calls for a General Election. If Reform win Makerfield, the Labour leadership race begins, without Burnham, followed by calls for a General Election.

@DannyMU20 @MatthewTorbitt Looking back at history, it does indeed seem to be the case; I can’t actually find any grounds to refute it.
