In Brentwood, ​council supporters defended G. Harold Duffey’s hiring by pointing to his decades of public service, fiscal leadership, and experience guiding cities through growth, recovery, and change. But that ​w​as before the recently released Oakland text exchanges and the fallout surrounding City Administrator Jestin Johnson’s resignation​ and everyone is second-guessing as Duffey appears to be looking over his shoulder, pretending to be unfazed by the recently released text exchanges that contributed to Oakland City Administrator Jestin Johnson’s resignation. Brentwood HR and the City Attorney would be wise to review the next steps, including Duffy’s employment contract and any potential exposure for the City. But Johnson and Duffy are not the only ones under scrutiny. The exposure involving Councilmember Carroll Fife may still be pending. The files reportedly shared by the City of Oakland with the FBI concerning Sheng Thao, Andre Jones, Mario Juarez, and the Duongs may be only the tip of the iceberg. Duffy’s interactions and relationships have not been fully vetted in public, and the claim that he is merely a victim of circumstance does not hold water. And by the way, text messages, voice messages, and other communications involving City employees that relate to the conduct of public business do not stop being public records simply because they were sent or received through a personal account or personal cell phone. Yes, City employee communications on personal devices may still be subject to disclosure under the California Public Records Act when they concern public business. Public accountability does not disappear just because the conversation moved off official City channels. @CA_Brentwood

The law is the law, but Haney has introduced AB441, legislation to amend state health codes to make it easier to hold night markets... Beyond the need to get more people feeling good in San Francisco’s streets, think about what happened here. City and state politicians and the community came together to overcome our city’s notorious bureaucracy and do something that helps businesses and makes people feel good, even just for one night, on a few blocks in one neighborhood. An assault in the Presidio Sunday sent me to the hospital. I was able to get some video. US Park Police responded quickly. I was concerned about other people being targeted.

This is exactly why the @SFPD needs additional funding, and why SRO’s need to be returned to @SFUSD_Supe campuses, immediately.. It’s long overdue for the Board of Supes to take accountability for policy missteps and fix this mess. Shock and awe videos from @StanleyRoberts were few and far between, now they are hourly occurrences..
