We watched It Happened One Night again tonight; what a wonderful film. The original and best RomCom, still fresh and sparky after the best part of a hundred years.

For a boy at school in the 70s and 80s Keegan was the go to name you used when commentating on your own playground football wizardry. “Ohh it’s Keegan!……..and it’s STILL Keegan!!……GOAL!!” RIP 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿💔

The fact that women can have their nudes leaked and have their whole career go down the drain, but men can have a full-blown rape allegation and still end up as president? Yeah, I don’t wanna hear a single person argue that gender inequality doesn’t exist.

Fun Fact: The President of the goddam United States paid nearly $6 million in damages today to a woman he raped. Once upon a time, this would have been the only news you heard.

Her name is Gina Martin. She was at a music festival in London when a man pushed his phone between her legs and took a photo under her skirt. She reported it to the police immediately. They told her it wasn't a criminal offence. There was nothing they could do. She went home and decided that was unacceptable. With no legal background, no political connections and no funding she launched a campaign to make upskirting a criminal offence in England and Wales. She petitioned. She lobbied MPs. She spoke publicly about what had happened to her. The government initially blocked the bill. She kept going. The Voyeurism Act passed in January 2019. Upskirting now carries up to two years in prison. Scotland followed. Other countries are following. A woman at a festival with no lawyer, no funding and no political connections rewrote the law for an entire nation in eighteen months.

Ossoff: "Here's what's going to happen tonight: the world's most famous sore loser will deliver a prime-time presidential sour grapes address to pursue his 6-year-old grievances about the 2020 election, while his war in the Middle East spirals out of control and the cost of living continues to rise for Americans across the country. I expect the president to reheat debunked conspiracy theories about the repeatedly litigated and audited and confirmed 2020 presidential election in Georgia, an election that Donald Trump lost. And let me be very clear about this: if the President declares Georgia's election illegitimate, or if the President declares Georgia's sitting United States Senators illegitimate, he is declaring Georgia voters illegitimate. It's Donald Trump who tried to defraud Georgia voters in that election, Donald Trump who tried to commit election fraud when he called Georgia's Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger -- and it was caught on tape, and you should play the tape to your viewers today -- and badgered and bullied Georgia's top election official to 'find him' the votes that he needed to win in a state where he had lost."

@hell_line0 I've got news for you. Without a man to cast higher ideals upon them, like the shadows dancing in a cave, all women, like cattle are content and happy to be breeding stock and to raise children, for starvation or a whore's trade is oft their only other fate.

@hell_line0 Absolutely. I’m reminded of Ela, Countess of Salisbury; started a convent rather than be ‘married off’. Did marry, later, a man who respected her and her status, once she had become one of the most powerful people in England. She started her convent in 1232.

You're a voter in Clacton. Your MP triggered a by-election to delay an investigation into his financial affairs. The other parties refuse to pander to his self-indulgent vanity project. The only opposition he has is a man dressed as a bin, because this is not a serious election.
Ross Kempsell@RossKempsell

You're a voter in Clacton on 13 August. Your choice is Reform, or a man dressed as a bin. The established parties didn't bother to send you a candidate. You feel like they care about you so little they literally sent you a bloke dressed as a bin. That's all you need to know

Michelle Mone owes £188m to the Government, in the last 9 months nothing has been done to collect it. If you owed £188, they would have fined you thousands of pounds and sent the bailiffs round. For the rich they do nothing.

I was always weirdly proud of the fact that he was born in Northern Ireland, even if he was very much a Kiwi. And, of course, he starred in some of my favourite movies — Jurassic Park, The Dish, several movies with Hunt in the title, and a little film called Event Horizon.

Absolutely gutted by the loss of Sam Neill. What an actor he was, and I was blessed over the years to interview him a bunch, and discover what a lovely guy he was in real life too. First person I ever interviewed for Empire. Was on a Zoom with him a few weeks ago too.
