Huey Long, according to people who play too much Kaiserreich: He was a bit authoritarian, but he did so much wholesome 100 things for Louisiana! Huey Long, in reality:

@OVTweetmarck Also, It is anachronistic to call anything before the 1790s “left” or “right” and in America there weren’t really self identified “right wingers” until maybe the 1940s.

@BarneyFlames @ScottMGreer No influencer comes close to the audience that Rush had. The nature of AM radio would be if like only 48 hours of Podcasts could be produced every day and Rush was like 6 hours of them, and NPR was 8.

@ScottMGreer Didn't the old right wing radio personalities like Rush have a lot of influence in swaying primaries though ? I think the difference is lot of influencers today just have foreign audiences

Influencers have audiences but they don’t have constituencies. They can’t command voters in a way a labor union or a prominent pastor can. Important to remember in light of influencers making no impact on the Massie race.

[on the building-site]. It was these stones, I was told, which were used to build the middle pyramid of the three which stand in front of the Great Pyramid. Each one of its sides measures 150 feet. And it’s definitely real because Herodotus is never wrong.

(though how much precisely, I was not informed). She did indeed charge the rate set by her father, but she also had a fancy to leave behind a memorial to herself; and so she asked each of her clients to donate a single stone

Lots of fun pyramid facts here but not the story of how it was financed. Cheops sank to such a nadir of depravity that his solution to a shortage of money was to install his own daughter in a brothel, and command her to charge those who visited her a standard fee of silver 1/

@MakeUSAVAT @_Wilsonpilled_ On average it’s bad but people like my coworkers who were mad that Trump ran on Drill baby Drill and then saw gas prices go down, and felt betrayed are the Hispanics that Trump brought into the Republican tent, and he is going to get Saddam Hussain numbers with them now.

@_Wilsonpilled_ Will help the oil industry but will make gas more expensive, given that most people in texas don't work in the oil industry I suspect the latter will matter more.

@SaladBarFan There are parts of the country where this gets you a decent suburban house. If you are in California you might as well buy the 30 dollar avocado toast.

@tracewoodgrains @GWBPatriot The great migration happened right before the South became the fastest growing part of the nation and the rust belt went to hell, the southern elites worried about it were retarded.

@GWBPatriot if Southern leaders thought its black residents were only "dysfunctional and destructive," they would have cheered the Great Migration. instead, they panicked, because their social and economic order relied on the active presence of a black underclass.

Segregation did not become a standard to maintain a so called "subordinate class" it was designed to quarantine a dysfunctional and destructive population Segregation in the north actually went away before the civil war and only reappeared after the great migration brought dysfunctional and destructive populations
Jack@tracewoodgrains

America has a large black underclass because the South threw its intellectual, moral, and physical force behind creating that underclass for three centuries. Segregation was not isolationist. Its goal was to maintain a quiet subordinate caste. It always needed to fall.

I just have to pop on here and break this down. OMG. The conservative solution to homelessness is “drug-free housing.” 🤯 So let’s think this through. You’re going to force people struggling with addiction into treatment before they can access housing? Where exactly? Into what treatment system? The one that’s already overwhelmed? Or are we suddenly building thousands of new treatment beds overnight? Which is impossible btw it would take decades to build, and do they even understand how much this would cost?? And what happens to the people who aren’t ready, relapse, or refuse treatment? You just leave them homeless? That’s not solving homelessness, that’s expanding it. Housing first doesn’t mean housing without support. It means getting people indoors first, then connecting them to mental health care, addiction treatment, recovery supports, doctors, counsellors, and stability. Because it’s a lot easier to rebuild your life when you have a door that locks.

@TheLastNeocon @Heminator The Dems invented it to keep any justices from retiring at the end of Bushes term, so it harmed Republicans first. But if you go back further, when the Dems dominated the Senate they just made Republican presidents appoint liberal activists, told them they would deny otherwise.

I absolutely believe Talarico will get 44% of the vote. The question is whether he can get 49%. I think it's possible as a good chunk of the undecided are probably Trump disapprovers, but that's really the big question.
