An Afghan ally who served alongside U.S. forces was legally paroled into the U.S. and showed up for his first hearing.
@DHSGov detained him anyway—using a vague “improvidently issued” excuse.
He followed the rules.

The house of iconic human rights defender @RajiSourani was bombed. He is reportedly alive. Hard to get information, no electricity, only chaos. In 9days, Israel has killed nearly as many as in 5 previous wars agst Gaza. This is not self-defence, this is an unfolding atrocity.

Democracies face an imperative to deliver on reforms that improve people's lives in a tangible way. If not, democracy risks continuing losing the support of youth who, as per the #OpenSocietyBarometer seem more predisposed to turn to authoritarian rule as an alternative.
