@teslascope I don't get it. If you truly want FSD. Why not just pay for the HW4 retrofit? Maybe Tesla should just offer it for half the price.

We now have more confirmation that Full Self-Driving (Supervised) in Netherlands is for AI4 vehicles only at this time. This means that HW3 vehicles in the European Union will either have to wait for the release of V14 Lite or a future hardware upgrade to access FSD.
Xander@xanderwasserman

Confirmed: FSD (Supervised) in the Netherlands is only for HW4 at this moment. This has been the general consensus, but good to have it officially confirmed. @teslascope @KRoelandschap @Rustavi

UK Tesla FSD Approval: The general feeling is that FSD will be approved in the UK between this summer and January next year. We are estimating January at notanfsdtracker.com Either way this isn't that far away! What do you think?

Several reports coming in of Tesla AI/HW3 Employees and Early Access getting 2026.8.6.1 This update follows the last minute revoking of the 2026.8.6 version due to issues with reverse camera activation on some vehicles. We hope to also see a potential fix to break stabbing.

🚗✨ Who else is excited for the Tesla Spring Update this year? Last year the Spring Update (2025.14) was announced on April 12 with cool new features like adaptive headlights, B-pillar camera recordings.. Super curious what they’ll bring this time! What features are you hoping for? 👀 #Tesla #SpringUpdate #Cybertruck #ModelY #Model3 $TSLA

@kitt_2020 @thommcg1980 @tpgoebel Grok is not always accurate. FSD will need type approval for behaviour changes. All that means is that when tesla wants to add a new feature to consumer cars, it will be tested first. As for general improvement probably not, but we will find out soon enough.

Below is Grok's explanation about Shadow mode. The car has to be driven manually while FSD runs in the background. Also, I asked Grok if Tesla’s Shadow Mode can be used to validate FSD performance to a significant degree. It says that..... .. "Yes, Tesla’s Shadow Mode can be used to validate FSD performance to a significant degree. It runs the new FSD version silently in the background on customer cars and compares its decisions with the human driver. When there’s a big difference, it automatically saves clips for Tesla to analyze. This allows Tesla to test and improve FSD safely using millions of real-world miles before official release. However, it’s not perfect — regulators often still require real supervised driving data for final approval."

Does Tesla need a recertification of every future FSD update in the Netherlands now? Here’s how I understand the situation to be. TL;DR: Bug fixes or UI changes will not need a new approval. But changes to the car’s behavior will. In the US, the system is more liberal, and Tesla can self-certify and push OTA updates as much as they want. NHTSA then checks after the fact if it finds any problems. Very American. In the EU under the UNECE regulations, Tesla needs to provide significant telemetry data for any update that changes the car’s behavior. RDW will do a delta check on what’s new. This will not take 18 months each and every time – but people in Europe will not see updates as frequently as we have here in the US over the last few years. On the flipside, Europeans will benefit from fairly polished versions every time they get a new update. Here in the US, we have been suffering through many setbacks and regressions over the years.

Hmm, do you really trust Grok with stuff like that? 🤔 I don’t. Tesla keeps that sort of info super secret and never shares any details. So Grok has to sort through tons of speculation from random people on the internet who think and feel it’s been changing. Did Grok point to reputable sources? I agree with the wild differences in opinion on how good or bad it is! 😆

FSD slams on the brakes for a cat in the road that doesn’t even exist. This is FSD 12.6.4 on HW3, which is a lot more sensitive to shadows & objects in the road with the 2026.8.6 update. There are many reports of brake stabbing. It brings me back to the days when I was testing with v10.3 of FSD back in 2021. It’s interesting that it’s the same FSD version as before, and not something like 12.6.4.1, but I guess Tesla can change the weights without changing the version. And they’ve likely been doing this for a while with 12.6.4. 😒

@JonBbC_TechGeek I get the feeling that the MCU software greatly influences the FSD behaviour. I think it's a combination of both systems that decide what it does, and how it does it.

THIS IS THE BIGGEST HW3 update we’ve had in MONTHS. 2026.8.6 is not one build. From what I’ve seen across multiple cars, there appear to be 3 variants: 2026.8.6-A, B, and C. My car is on A, and it feels significantly improved. I’m doing 10+ hours of testing tomorrow to learn more. Here are a few confirmed changes: - Reduced Vision Monitoring (seen in A, B, and C) - Improvements to lane selection (A) - Overall smoothness improvement (A) - Roughly 15 to 25% latency reduction (A) - Matches Tentacle Speed to AI4 (the future prediction blue line is smoother and reacts faster, seems to be on A, potentially C as well) - MAJORLY improved “off-road” performance (more confident starting on rock or grass and finding the road without accelerator presses) - Obstacle avoidance improvements Let me know if any of you experience these as well, and check your service mode for your Bank A, B, Trip Weights and AP weights, make sure to leave them in your comment. #2026.8.6 #HW3 #FSD

Hot take: If v14 lite is imminent for Europe and qualifies as safe under the same approval that v14 did that means Tesla deems it just as safe as v14 is!! v14 lite is the update that HW3 owners who purchased FSD in full deserve and I believe those who stuck it out will be really satisfied with the update. The ones who won’t be satisfied are the miserable fucks who will complain that its not unsupervised. But the ones who are open minded will absolutely love v14 lite!

Confirmed, FSD subscription is €49/mo in the Netherlands if you own Enhanced Autopilot. PS: why can I purchase the FSD subscription on my HW3? @teslascope @NotATeslaApp @KRoelandschap @Rustavi

@WarrenWhyteUK @Tesla So I gave up reading the drivel posts here. The reason the UK has not approved FSD, is because Tesla has not approached the UK's VCA which is required as the very first step. The VCA is the UK's RDW. Tesla decided to go for the bigger market first plus the UK is RHD.
