The #DeepWonders team encountered this curious grenadier fr the genus Coryphaenoides at 1,900m — 2.3 times as deep as the height of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Also known as rattails, most are smaller; this individual was nearly 1m long.

The #DeepWonders science team, led by Dr. Diva Amon of SpeSeas, is seeing many sea cucumbers, including these rhythmic water dancers that could be Benthothuria sp. They are part of the deep-sea cleanup crew, ingesting decaying detritus & pooping clean sand along the seafloor.

Extreme heat from the #BabylonFire and other wildfires across Utah and Colorado led to the formation of pyrocumulonimbus clouds earlier this week. These clouds were captured by @NOAA’s #GOESWest (#GOES18) 🛰️ over an eight-hour period on July 6. The Babylon Fire has burned over 100,000 acres and is 11% contained.

“We don't know what it is.” NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman says the space agency has captured images of unexplained objects that scientists still can't identify. While stressing the imagery is not proof of extraterrestrial life, Isaacman said he's optimistic humanity will one day discover we're not alone—and revealed the Trump administration has pushed to declassify more government files related to the unexplained phenomena.
