The principle of the Responsibility to Protect, developed with Canadian leadership @lloydaxworthy , exists precisely for moments such as this. It does not necessarily require military intervention, but it does require timely and meaningful action. No one doubts that the IRGC is a dangerous organization not only to the people of Iran, but to the wider world. Precisely for that reason, we must distinguish between the IRGC and its victims, including forcibly conscripted individuals. Thank you Minister Anand. But we are way behind in Canada in terms of enforcing the IRGC designation. All this destination has achieved in the past few months was to unfairly target innocent conscripts despite early assurances that this would not happen. We urgently need to target IRGC-linked financial networks in Canada. We cannot achieve without a full team of skillful staff dedicated to this effort and of course political will.
