Mobile servicing is a wonderful thing! Thanks to Darren from @Cleevely_Mobile for the minor service on our 61k mile 2020 Kia e-Niro. It’s as solid as ever and still the same range as when it was new. The one issue? A split rear wiper blade. I’ll live! 😀

Hey @altontowers good to see you now have EV chargers. @zap_map says they are in the premium car park. Can we use them if we're staying in the hotel or do we need to pay for premium parking? Also your website faq still says the closest charger is in Uttoxeter.

Here's a real issue we are seeing time and time again. I did a repair on a local ladies Renault Zoe today. She'd been quoted £1203 to have a 'Danger Electrical Failure' warning lamp issue resolved, a new door hinge, a water ingress issue resolved and 2 x TPMS sensors. What it actually needed was; - Coolant pump run time reset - Driver's door realigned - Tyres inflated and a TPMS reset - Scuttle drain off unblocking. It took 1h 45 minutes and I charged her £150, she gave me £200. It needs to change.

@ChrisRedpath @modernheroestv I bought a car from a small garage. During the test drive the guy was warning me about one of the chain MOT/service centres starting with K. He was told a car that had 1 week old disks and pads needed new discs during its MOT.

@modernheroestv I had brake disk advisories two years running and then not the third, despite the only difference being that I did 3x the mileage in the year before the 3rd one. I knew the disks were fine as the car was always manufacturer serviced and they didn't say anything. Just depends.

I’m convinced that making MOT history so openly available has done as much damage as it has good. Morons over reacting to advisories seems to be par for the course now.

@seawarrior7316 @KateFantom @myenergiuk Stephen, not sure I 💯% understand your post but basically if you need all that you consumed but sold some to the grid instead, you’d be buying back deficit at a higher price and losing money. Depends on tariff and location obviously but is the usual approach for solar/batt setup

We've popped 200+ miles in to our EV over the weekend and heated all of our hot water. This is quite literally free and as close to zero carbon as you can get. Our panels are now 13 years old and still kick out the same as when new. They were also free. We've used zero energy from the from the grid.

@StagecoachEScot Thanks. Was looking at times in the app for later in the week. It was showing prices from £11.90 cheapest option being the day rider. Will try the website in future & see if I have more luck

@Grantsonuk Hi, a day return ticket from Dunfermline to Edinburgh is £6.50 and can be purchased on the bus. To check times etc you can use the Journey Planner to check dates and times and click on tickets from and the prices are there. Hope this helps. L

Think I've twice had to plot extra stops due to a failed charge or long queue at a charger or wait in a queue a handful of times. It certainly doesn't render the car useless outside of a city.

@The_PlugSeeker @GrahamR80837612 @DVLAgovuk @AutoTrader_UK most peeps who buy an ev second hand will use it as a second car and charge from home. reduce commuting miles on the main car. currently EV's are not realistic outside cities due to lack of chargers. to replace 50% of pumps locally would require 600 chargers.

Been doing some sums tonight. Using @DVLAgovuk data for 2020 average diesel / petrol car efficiency, published weekly average fuel prices, and assuming average EV efficiency 3m/kWh. Am going to be totally honest, as a keen EV advocate to the costs of using Rapid 50kW+ chargers currently, and why we MUST cut the VAT on Rapid charger electricity. Diesel car - Cost 12.4p/mi Petrol car - Cost 12.7p/mi To be EQUAL in price to Fossil cars (purely in terms of fuel money) the cost of electricity to charge needs to be: Petrol parity ◦38.0p / kWh Diesel parity ◦37.3p / kWh Using @zap_map data. Average costs - Rapids 50kW+ = 81p/kWh (or 81/3= 27p/mi 16.8p/km) - Home grid average costs - 28p/kWh (or 9.3p/mi , 5.8p/km) - Off peak tariffs- 8.3p/kWh (or 2.8p/mi. 1.6p/km) So we have to be honest that fuel costs IF you 100% charge at rapids is almost twice cost. However few EV drivers will 100% rapid charge, this is a minority of EV owners. VITAL to note 60-70% can and will main charge at home which is cheaper and off peak almost 10x CHEAPER potentially. Many will also get home solar or charge cheaply at workplace chargers. Also can charge on lampposts and in places where car is parked at cheaper rates. Food for thought and comment ?
