While it was very encouraging to see genuine interest regarding our accounts of the ongoing genocide against Amharas in Ethiopia, it's actually shocking how little is known about it across the board.
My takeaway message was that building a very committed advocacy base that keeps focused only on the issue is required.
It is however extremely encouraging to also learn that the pathway to get accountability is not as daunting as we all think. With commitment, credible reporting and following of due process, it can be done. Hoping to collaborate with everyone who is genuinely after justice.

#GPE_Update On October 23, 2023, an international team of GPE delegates traveled from different states in the US and from other continents to New York to give briefing on the ongoing genocide against #Amhara|s in particular, and the escalated human rights disaster across #Ethiopia in general, to various UN delegates, mandated offices and working groups. We have noted that despite our consistent reporting on #AmharaGenocide, other ethnic based targeting, and generally the effects of the #EthnicAparethied in Ethiopia, there was little to no attention given to it by the international community in general and the UN in particular. We have also noted that we were extremely disappointed by the termination of the mandate for UN-ICHREE, the commission tasked with investigating crimes against humanity in Ethiopia. We have shared our strong recommendation on reviewing past attempts to prevent these alarming atrocities and build on it by putting a new mechanism in place with better scope, timeline, mandate & budget allocation. We will keep everyone updated of any follow ups, but we do hope that everyone who is concerned about the alarming situation in #Ethiopia do their best to raise awareness about #AmharaGenocide, #WarOnAmhara, #EthnicApartheid in Ethiopia, or any ethnic based attack that takes place in the country due to the genocidal system, by being heavily engaged in advocacy! We invite everyone to feel free to use our reports as a supporting evidence to your argument why your representatives need to raise awareness about the escalating multidimensional humanitarian disaster in Ethiopia through their respective offices.
