This year, #YomHaZikaron is more poignant and tragic than ever, following October 7. On Israel's Memorial Day, we honor and remember the 25,040 soldiers and 5,100 victims of terror who have lost their lives throughout Israeli history, including the 1,200 victims of Hamas' 10/7 massacre. Since last Yom HaZikaron, 766 soldiers and 834 civilians lost their lives.

Kayla Mackenzie. Wishing her health, happiness, and greatness that derives from helping others. Glad she is born into a world where she can be poet, surgeon, Supreme Court justice, or anything she wants. Wishing for a future where women need not choose between family and career.

As I listen to the reasons why @VP Pence & other Trump supporters may be afraid of what Trump could do if Pence invokes the 25th Amendment now, or others speak out against him, I think about the real fear they must have, because we no longer have to wonder just how far...(1/x)

@tressiemcphd Thank you Arnold. Before Kristallnatch in 1923 Hitler staged a failed coup in Munich (beer hall putsch), went to jail where he wrote mein kampf, and was elected in 1932 with 30% support to become chancellor in 1933. We must stop trump and his enablers now.

A great example on how we can heal and become one society. We must acknowledge the past, repent, and resolve that this will not happen again: Column One: In Minnesota, the legacy of a lynching continues to haunt — and echo across decades latimes.com/world-nation/s…

It is sad when Americans have to seek refuge because they are not safe in our country. As an imigrant who sought protection and freedom I am aghast with the thought that an American born citizen is denied the rights I enjoy: via @NYTOpinion nytimes.com/2020/06/12/opi…

In our @MBK_Alliance town hall yesterday, I mentioned James Baldwin's The Fire Next Time. From 1962, it remains a seminal meditation on race by one of our greatest writers and relevant for understanding the pain and anger behind the protests. Excerpt: newyorker.com/magazine/1962/…

@CamilleLStewart This is a time when we cannot remain silent. Silence is condoning a behavior that will perpetuate injustice and racism.

In the past I didn’t want my social media profiles to be political. But I feel now that silence can itself be harmful. Black lives matter. For those hurt by this systemic racism, know that I stand with you, and will fight alongside you to fix what has long been broken.
