WUNDERKAMMER by @Isakost 108 pieces / 100% on-chain / 14 Jan A capsule for the presence of an artist who has planted seeds of magic since the foundational days of cryptoart, Isa Kost's WUNDERKAMMER emerges from the lineage of collecting as a creative practice. Building a Wunderkammer, a Cabinet of Curiosities, is a practice that began in the 16th century as a way to honor objects of strange value. Now, we place such objects on blockchain. Each of the 108 objects in this Cabinet of Curiosities is a dead memory, a dead experience that has called out to be found, and Isa Kost transforms them one by one. The permanence of death becomes timeless presence on-chain. We look at our curated serial collections as a way to make a vessel that can hold an artist's presence, a means of creating a 'place' that can serve as a home base and coherent core for their body of work. The beauty of this collection and the meaning-making that it does in relation to its medium on-chain make us proud to bring it into the world. Find the collection page and further details below.

These are some of the artists that established the real value and worth in this space, that others came in and rode the coattails of. Things that didn't exist in OG crypto art: "blue chips", whitelists, factions, cliques, wash trades, exclusivity, market manipulation, twenty thread posts on x by "collectors", and NOTORIETY. Many of the artists and early collectors that actually built this movement don't have ANY notoriety. But that doesn't have any bearing on their contributions, value, or importance in crypto art. Notoriety in this space has mostly been a product of superficial, inauthentic, manipulative, and fraudulent actions, usually committed by individuals with profit and power motives, who never gave a shit about art, artists, the ethos of crypto, or the roots of crypto art. And usually, it was done in coordination with the "artist". Here's a quick rule of thumb. If an artist sold their genesis NFT for more than $1,000....they aren't an OG of crypto art. 😂

" Isa's on-chain pieces are indestructible — the art IS the contract. No CDN, no server, no company to shut down. The base64 PNG lives on Tezos forever." said the ai @Isakost

Happy Women's Day 🥰 To the women who turn silence into sound and blank canvases into entire worlds. You carry the weight of every story that was never allowed to be told. Your art is not just a hobby; it is a revolution of the soul. Thank you for choosing to create in a world that often tries to make us smaller. You are the visionaries we needed. Tagging some of my fav's down below, give them a follow and share love : @Empatia17 @NastyStizi @Isakost @a1111ac011d0 @madebyoona @QuantumARTglmts @_pixellare @ForgetDali @ArtMonochrome2 @paraxenod @WiseSigmaToad @kikanicolela @Olga_f2727 @LN0ir

There comes a time in an artist's life when you must answer the most important question: Am I creating new art, or am I just repeating myself? For me, that time was 2 years ago, and after more than 20 years of creating, I felt I was falling into repetition. Every new idea I had, was the same as one i had before and after months of planning, creating, and erasing everything, I accomplished nothing. But I found the answer to the question, and it was collaboration. As in life, likewise in art we change through others, we make new friends and we change, we travel to new places and meet new people, we change.  This is why I started the Partners in Crime series, where every artwork is a new and exciting journey of exploration. Always new patterns, new ideas, and a unique opportunity to dive into another artist's mind and see details that escape the eye of a normal viewer

beautiful to see Kaprekar cuts thru to the power of @Isakost's Wunderkammer with blade-like grace. There's few collectors who take as seriously the role of this strange act of collecting in the overall sphere of culture-making. And despite the swings and slumps in the scene, it remains true that it's the presence of people who perceive and care about value beyond the quantifiable that nourish the life of this place. And as long as there is such a core, it remains a living place.

2025 Collecting wrap: Wunderkammer by @Isakost The same curators, @sovrnart, that selected Reflection by @VanArman and Cents by Rutherford Chang also brought us Wunderkammer. Described as a cabinet of curiosities. A reflection and meditation on death. The objects that remain as life leaves them. Skulls. Seashells. Insects. Animated in minimalist svgs and preserved through the medium of onchain metadata. As links rot, as platforms close, as IPFS pins fade and more NFTs not only die but experience digital decomposure, Wunkderkammer is imo a great way to contemplate digital decay.. or at least for now in the form of onchain works.. a lack of decay. A bit of resilience. The bones left when everything else is gone. I love the medium of onchain art. What has kept me from being more of an onchain maxi tho is the medium of longform generative and generative has a bit more of a limited narrative ability. The relatively minimalist svgs of Wunderkammer however fulfill the longevity of onchain art and lean on the medium it for a particular purpose. A collection of 108, this one is still not yet sold out. For a market that generally speaking has worshipped quick sell outs, this might lead you to dismiss the work. That would be a mistake.
