It has been reported that Kharam Vaiphei, a Kuki-Zo village, was set on fire today, allegedly by NSCN-IM/ZUF cadres. According to information received, personnel from the Indian Army Gorkha Rifles and the Central Reserve Police Force directed local village volunteers to vacate their defensive positions, assuring that security forces would ensure the protection of Kharam Vaiphei. Subsequently, on the following day, after the volunteers withdrew, members of NSCN-IM and ZUF-KAMSON reportedly carried out the attack and arson. Furthermore, KHANUITHOT-KHON, a media outlet associated with NSCN-IM, publicly acknowledged and expressed appreciation to the Kangpokpi District SP for his role in the incident. In view of these developments, I respectfully appeal to the Hon’ble Union Home Minister, Shri @AmitShah, to initiate a prompt and impartial inquiry into the conduct of Shri Rahul Gupta, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Kangpokpi District, with regard to the allegations of facilitating the attack on Kharam Vaiphei by NSCN-IM and its affiliated group ZUF-KAMSON. #MANIPUR: The Working Committee of the United Naga Council (UNC) has strongly rejected the statement made by the Kuki Organisation for Human Rights Trust (KOHUR) accusing it of “deflecting attention” from the May 13 ambush that left three Thadou Baptist Church leaders dead and injuring others. “There were telling indications that the three church leaders were shot at from point-blank range, with Dr. Sitlhou alone being hit by 15 bullets.
