What is important is that we get a fast jet trainer fit for the 21st Century and capable of training pilots for front line 5th/6th generation combat aircraft. My rebuttal of the Express article is below:

This is not quite as it seems. Firstly the Red Arrows exclusively fly the Hawk T1 so it is not on the same replacement timeline as consideration for the T2 replacement. Secondly, the Aeralis aircraft the article appears to favour has no prototype - its competitors are all flying.

@SRDMaguire Inf background, but I believe getting freshly promoted LCpls using their quals ASAP is useful as a break clean from the ptes, and setting the tone of what is to be expected of them. An example is being the ECO for blank exercises as they have the ‘M’ qual from the PJNCO cadre.
