In 2021, just months before the Assembly polls, Capt Amarinder Singh was replaced by Charanjit Singh Channi while Navjot Sidhu was made state chief. The result? An angry Captain quit, eventually joined the BJP, and a bitterly divided Congress was routed in 2022. Now, Channi is openly rebelling after being denied the state chief’s post. Once again, the party looks divided, with the high command appearing weak and indecisive. If Congress can’t get its house in order in a potentially winnable state, how does it hope to mount a national revival?🙏

A 18th-century haweli known as Chaman Lal Khosla di Haweli in Rahon near Nawanshahr was one of the inspirations behind the architecture of Museum of Rural Life of Punjab in PAU Ludhiana. Dr MS Randhawa visited many old towns and villages of Punjab to create this museum in 1970s. I found dilapidated hawelis of Khoslas, Chopras, Ch Abdul Rehman and the remnants of Punnu di Sarai on my visit to Rahon. Rahon is one of the oldest towns of Punjab and was known for ancient trade route, Battle of Rahon, Sardar Tara Singh Ghaiba, many old Mandirs and Suraj Kund.
