🙏🏽THANK YOU TO SUPERVISOR #FelipeHernandez for organizing this SHOP PAJARO to support small businesses in this community, STARTING TOMORROW April 28-30! #SupportSmallBusinesses👏🏽 #SupportPajaro✊🏽 Join Us Shop Pajaro Weekend Cash Mob@Pajaro All Weekend Friday, April 28 Saturday, April 29 Sunday, April 30 Join us beginning on Friday at 2:00pm and help Pajaro businesses get back on their feet and help create a sense of normalcy in the community. The Pajaro Valley community is a tight knit community that always comes together whenever a neighbor is in need. Pajaro, although Monterey County, is Watsonville’s neighbor and very much part of our community. We’ve seen this collective mutual support in the past floods and earthquakes. Let’s continue the mutual support to our neighbors and support the struggling businesses in the aftermath of the floods.

POWERFUL LETTER from small business owners in #Pajaro to Governor @GavinNewsom and @Cal_OES urging the immediate request for a Presidential Disaster Declaration that would deploy FEMA workers and assistance to the ground here in Pajaro to assist residents & small businesses in our community. Also direct financial assistance to small businesses beyond just loans & assistance for undocumented flood victims who will not qualify for FEMA assistance or unemployment insurance!⚠️✍🏽 “We are a coalition of small businesses in the community of Pajaro that was recently devastated by the massive floods that started on March 11, 2023. Pajaro is a small, disadvantaged Latino community of nearly 3,000 residents and dozens of small businesses, and our community is suffering from direct impacts to our homes, vehicles and businesses. We are writing to urge your office and the California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) to immediately request a Presidential Disaster Declaration that would deploy FEMA workers and assistance to the ground here in Pajaro to assist residents and small businesses in our community. Additionally, we want to implore you and FEMA to provide direct financial assistance to our businesses beyond just loans. Our businesses have suffered tremendous financial losses during the last evacuation in January and the one this month, and there are significant physical damages to our businesses. These are losses that we cannot recoup through any other means. Lastly, we are respectfully requesting state emergency resources for the undocumented community members in Pajaro who have been severely impacted and displaced due to flooding, but who will not qualify for the most needed assistance once FEMA services arrive. Also, many of our undocumented community members will be out of work for a significant period, as the flooding has damaged over 20,000 acres of local agricultural farmlands, and many do not qualify for unemployment insurance due to their immigration status.” @ZoeLofgren

@NativeSantaCruz Definitely breathing a bit easier this morning in the mountains. But it's still a nightmare in Pajaro.
