The LIBRE Initiative works to bring freedom-minded solutions to the U.S. Hispanic community.

It is difficult to read about the sexual abuses and appalling acts detailed in the New York Times article by one-time UFW leader, Cesar Chaves, against innocent young women to which the UFW was trusted to represent. The enabling, the silence and cover-up by staff allowed these abuses to continue. Abhorrent and unacceptable. UFW leadership failed to protect our children, abandoned the victims, and now eviscerate the trust they once held in the community, but has also stained the mythology of their work throughout the years. The Latino community deserves better leadership than one that exploited innocent young women they presumed to represent, and then covered up. No person should suffer such horrid victimization to prop up a movement. Rape and sexual abuse should not be tolerated for any reason, especially for political aims.

"All of this stuff they're doing, all this political stuff, all this social and environmental justice -- that's what's raising your rates by a billion dollars. We're going to get rid of that."
