Yesterday, @GCAARNow began distributing materials to DC voters claiming that our Council along with @IAFF36 and DC Nurses endorsed @kenyanmcduffie. This claim is patently false. Not only did we NOT endorse McDuffie, not a single union has endorsed him. Our statement:

Well they did both vote to close a school that served our over-aged and under credited students based on test scores, instead of investing in said students who were out fighting for their school as a treasured and trusted community. So they certainly have that in common. 👋

🚨 Endorsement Alert 🚨 I’m proud to have the endorsement of At-Large Councilmember Anita Bonds, a steadfast leader who has spent her career fighting for DC residents too often left behind. Together, we’ll keep fighting and delivering for our seniors, returning citizens and marginalized communties across all eight wards.

MAN CHARGED WITH 66 OFFENSES AFTER MULTI-COUNTY SHOOTING & CARJACKING SPREE ACROSS PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, MD — Prince George’s County Police have charged a Glen Burnie man with dozens of offenses following a violent Friday afternoon shooting and carjacking spree that unfolded across multiple locations throughout northern Prince George’s County. Authorities identified the suspect as 68-year-old Larry James Simpson of Glen Burnie, Maryland. According to investigators, Simpson is facing: ⚖️ 66 criminal offenses ⚖️ 16 counts of attempted first-degree murder ⚖️ 16 counts of attempted second-degree murder ⚖️ Numerous related gun and carjacking charges Police say additional charges may still be pending as detectives continue investigating the case. ⸻ 🚨 INCIDENT TIMELINE 📍 5100 block of Pierce Avenue — College Park Around 2:30 p.m., officers received reports of a man pointing a long gun out of a vehicle window while driving through the area. Witnesses reported the suspect fired several shots from the vehicle. No injuries were reported at that scene. 📍 Riverdale Road & BW Parkway — Riverdale A short time later, investigators say Simpson fired at a vehicle occupied by a 64-year-old man. A bullet struck the vehicle’s window, causing the victim to suffer lacerations to his head from shattered glass. The victim was transported to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. 📍 67th Avenue & Patterson Street — Riverdale Minutes later, police say Simpson crashed his vehicle, causing it to overturn in the roadway. After the crash, investigators say Simpson exited the overturned vehicle and carjacked a Nissan while opening fire at multiple people nearby. 🚑 One adult male was struck by gunfire and suffered critical injuries. Authorities later stated the victim is expected to survive. Crime scene investigators recovered numerous shell casings from the scene as roads around the area were shut down for several hours. 📍 Kenilworth Avenue & Good Luck Road — Riverdale Police say Simpson then fired at a woman before carjacking her Toyota. The woman was not injured during the encounter. 📍 9000 block of Edmonston Road — Greenbelt The incident eventually ended near Greenbelt after Simpson allegedly attempted to carjack a Honda while firing shots in the direction of an off-duty Prince George’s County Police officer who had been following him in a personal vehicle. The off-duty officer was not struck. With assistance from United States Park Police officers, Simpson was taken into custody at the scene. 🔫 Authorities recovered an AR-15 style rifle during the arrest. Police say Simpson was later transported to a hospital for injuries believed to have occurred during the earlier crash before being released into custody. ⸻ 🚓 OFF-DUTY OFFICER HELPED TRACK SUSPECT According to PGPD, an off-duty Prince George’s County Police officer witnessed one of the carjackings while driving nearby and began following the suspect vehicle. Investigators say the officer contacted his wife, who is also a PGPD officer, and she relayed the suspect’s location in real time to responding officers and partner agencies across the county. Police credit that communication with helping lead to the suspect’s eventual arrest. ⸻ 🚨 CONFIRMED SCENES CONNECTED TO INVESTIGATION 📍 5100 block of Pierce Ave — College Park 📍 Riverdale Rd & BW Parkway — Riverdale 📍 67th Ave & Patterson St — Riverdale 📍 Kenilworth Ave & Good Luck Rd — Riverdale 📍 9000 block of Edmonston Rd — Greenbelt ⸻ Investigators continue working to determine whether additional victims or scenes may be connected to the incident. The investigation remains active and ongoing. #KillmoeNews #PGCounty #GreenbeltMD #RiverdaleMD #BreakingNews

@EJGoulet @CMFrumin There are development sites now in NW that aren’t being touched. There is plenty of density available. DC needs to address the reasons why investors are leaving. Just ask them and then address those issues. Has nothing to do with that staircase lib nonsense from Nadeau.

Thank you, @CMFrumin for restoring common sense to this conversation. DC needs to be laser-focused on adding housing density near Metrorail stations, small business corridors, and along major Metrobus routes. We haven’t even done that yet. (1/3)

Other Councilmembers need to “be there” so that we have a majority to vote for building the housing our District needs. The entire District needs Ward 3 to build their fair share, not just be content as a playground for the rich.

here’s what everyone demanding harsher, more draconian punishment for teens asked for. jailing parents (for up to 6 months!) won’t make your life any better but it WILL fast-track caregivers losing their jobs, families getting evicted, & more children’s lives thrown into upheaval
Martin Austermuhle@maustermuhle

Interesting: Instead of prosecuting parents under the D.C. law related to curfew (with a $500 fine as a penalty), the U.S. Attorney for D.C. will use the city's law against contributing to the delinquency of a minor. code.dccouncil.gov/us/dc/council/…

Aparna has the backing of almost every union, every tenant union that’s endorsed in the race, and @mdc_dsa. All of those groups represent people just as politically and socially engaged in Ward 1 as ANCs, and they’ve all won things through organizing for them!
sp-ainsworth.bsky.social@sp_ainsworth

Citywide, 41 ANC commissioners have donated to Miguel The people who are most politically and socially engaged in their neighborhoods overwhelmingly back Miguel. It’s that kind of local support that helps a CM turn progressive ideas into action

Despite earning $3 billion from DC every year, Clark Construction continues to be involved with the ICE HQ project in SE DC. Join us this Monday at 5 pm at Clark HQ (1200 New Hampshire Ave NW) to demand an end to this. Clark must choose DC or ICE. They can no longer have us both.

DC is a world-class city, but Ward 7 residents are still begging for basic grocery stores at ANC meetings. That should embarrass city leadership. DC = resource rich. Ward 7 remains resource poor. No one should have to leave their neighborhood for quality food or settle.
